Ok, I'll admit the lvl 1-80 mistake with SoComm. You are making your point about SoR vs SoComm against single target. What percentage of mobs that you kill while questing are going to be elite?? Maybe 2%. Once you get into the core ret talents, you shouldn't be doing one at a time unless you are in that small niche where the mob is elite. That's the point.

So back to reality where the other 98% of the mobs reside, SoComm is vastly better against packs. The fact that you can glyph SoComm for mana regen means that you can also drop Consecration more. If you can speed up the leveling process by at least 50%, why wouldn't you?? For this same reason, prot pallys can level very fast as well, but only under ideal circumstances. Quests with caster targets or where the mobs are spread very thin are terrible for this type of grinding.

Even then you can't always pull more than one mob. I agree it's a small % of the time but why give up that time to do 21 extra dps when you could do that % of time faster since lets face it it's rare you do exacly the damage it takes to kill a mob often you overkill it by quite a margin so those 21 extra won't even matter while soloing.

And you started the name calling because you didn't understand my point so yeah I think it was necessary. By calling him a downy if he used SoR you indirectly call me a downy because I sugested it, you need to think about the points you make. It seems it was not your intention to insult me but that was difficult to trace in the first post you made.

Therefore I apologize for my somewhat agitated reply. However I will still claim that SoR has it's niche in leveling and does better than 2% haste and 3% damage.

as far as I know it's not a [your dps] /100 *3 scenario. Think it increases your weapon damage and since a lot of our moves are orientated around our weapon damage 3% scales quite well if crusader is 93% weapon damage and ds is 110% I think it's a little more than 21 dps

Also, elites? Lol, do they even exist anymore? Perhaps northerend elites, but if they hit moderately hard he'll probably be using SoL, so your SoR point there is moot. SoComm all the way to 80 (as soon as you get it, that is) pulling multiple mobs, works wonders.

They hit quite hard yes but SoL isn't really a good idea (from my own experience, as you simply don't do enough damage to get them down before you oom, as you do when you are forced to heal.)

And honestly do you think I don't know pulling multiple mobs is a good idea? What year do you live in? 2004?

edit: of course it's not that simple, it's probably more like 3.5-4% extra damage but it was just to imply just what you are losing if you choose to improve SoR at his level, and from where I am standing that doesn't sound like such a serious loss.

That was just the other day and I was lvl 49, the drood corpse is from a lvl 57 resto. For elites (even 9 lvls above you) use SoL and JoW took me about 4 mins on Lar'korwi but I got him and the tree 5 times... In the right hands, like an experienced endgame ret, leveling another ret is OP.

OT of Seals/Spec:

It's important to get DS asap so I say skip the 5/5 imp SoR and just use SoCom all the time unless soloing elites or group quests. The damage difference between a judgement from reg SoR and SoCom is negligible while lvling and when solo questing and you can glyph SoCom to keep from going oom.

Also, get as much +hit gear as possible, as it wont matter if you judge for 500 or 900 if you can't hit the mob with it.

Also, SoL oom? If you have SoL up, you most often wont need to use AoW procs, and if you do, just drop consecretion from your rotation or prioritize judgement a little more, if it's killing a hard elite, max dps isn't important, survival is.

And, ofc I know that multi mob leveling isn't brand new, but the point you were bringing across that basically every single pull you do while leveling will be single target, was wrong. Bads level single target, people who know how to level will chain pull. (p.s. the last part of my post was more aimed to the OP since he is here asking for advice after all...
