I like most of the oldschool stuff back when they sang about oppression or just partying, NOT gangster and sleazy lyrics.

What oldschool rap is that ? The "oldschool" hip-hop was always about money/bling/offending women/"gansters" and Eminem doesn't rap about either one of them.

Got to say completely different to all of his other albums,even though its the first album I listened too, but imo his lyrics as good as they are cannot compare to Lupe's they guy's songs need a total breakdown for most people,try:

My rap tastes consist of The Beastie boys and Asheru (the dude who did the Boondocks theme song). I absolutely hate that gangster rap completely computer generated crap.

OP you are not alone. I listen to every genre aslong as it has a good beat/ambient/other stuff. And aslong as it suits my mood. My most favourite rap is the in your face kind of style. Like Snowgoons or Alchemist and 2pac. I hate slow rap though.

My most favourite kind of metal or rock is the in your face kind of style aswell or orchestra stuff like Nightwish or Within Temptation. And I love metal like Skindred. I Also like techno/trance songs.

So to be honest. I listen to almost everything. I have almost every kind of genre of music on my Itunes and i like them all. But some of them get boring to listen too lol.

I'm surprised this thread has stayed fairly civil. Couple things. Hip Hop was not always about money/guns/etc. It literally started as DJ's (then eventually rappers) making short rhymes over looped break beats to hype up parties. It was usually just about having a good time. Then the bravado raps started (aka I'm so cool raps) and it splintered from there.

Hip Hop is the genre, Rapping is what MC's do to the beat. Everything else is up to interpretation. I listen to a wide variety of Hip Hop personally. Everything from Eminem to El P to Apathy to Kid Cudi to Childish Gambino, etc..
