Tutorial 1:

First we start with our background and foreground images; I chose two from the Halls of Origination.

Background:


Foreground:


Now I want to open WoW Model Viewer, click View > Background Color and change it to Magenta




Click View > File List
Now on the left hand menu click on the + next to Character, then click on your selected character race, the sex then as in my example, I click on dwarfmale.m2



I click Stop in the animation panel on the bottom, then I choose my Characteristics from the Character customization on the right. I use my Scroll button on my mouse to zoom in a bit, to make sure it looks right.

I then select my gear from the Equipment customization section on the right.

Now click on View > Model Control
Click on the Scale slider and move it until your toon fills the screen.



In the drop-down menu, select the shoulders, weapons, etc and uncheck the Particles tab.
If you notice that on the weapons that there are still some semi-transparent fluff, click on some of the Check boxes in the Geoset to get rid of them.



Make sure you click on the drop-down menu one last time to select your toon before proceeding.
Click Stop in the animation menu.

Now, in the Animation portion, click on the drop-down menu and choose what animation you would like, click stop, and move the Frame slider until you think it looks the way you'd like.



Click File > Save Screenshot
Choose .bmp in the drop-down menu on the bottom.
I like to make sure to watch the eyes so that I don't catch him in a blink, then click Save.

Now click View > Model Control and recheck all of the Particles boxes next to the gear, as well as the Geoset boxes that you unchecked on the gear.

Click View > Background Color and change it to black.

Choose .png in the drop-down menu on the bottom

Now open your two images in Photoshop, make sure that on your .bmp image that you double-click your Layer0 thumbnail and make sure it isn't locked.

Click on the Magic Wand Tool make sure it's set to 32 tolerance with contigous unchecked and anti-aliasing on
Click on the Magenta area and then press delete
Right-Click on your Layer0 thumbnail and duplicate the layer 4 times.
Right-Click again and click Merge Visible

Now, click on the .png image and Select > All , Edit > Copy
Then click on your .bmp and Edit > Paste the .png
Move it until it is perfectly over the .bmp
Now right-click Layer 0 and click Merge Visible

Now we create our starting image, I'm making this one at 1280x800
File > New


Now we open our Template


Click on View > and make sure Snap is selected.
We are going to be going back and forth from the Template to our image, so I won't be posting pictures of that, I'll just name the layers.

We first select the Header Shadow Layer (Select > All, Edit > Copy) then we go to our image and Paste it (Edit > Past).

Click the move tool and move it to the top until it Snaps in place.
Do the same with the Footer Shadow But move it to the bottom.

I've chosen to do a Wrath of the Lich king styled one, so I choose Header WoTLK and Footer WoTLK and paste those on the bottom and top.



Click View > Snap
Select the WoTLK Logo Layer and place it where you want on our image on top of the header.



Now we copy and paste our toon onto our layer, it will look pretty big, we'll fix that.



Click Edit > Transform > Scale
Make sure to click the Maintain Aspect Ratio button at the top.


Now drag the box on the upper left until you think it looks good, and move it where you want it.



Click on Filter > Sharpen > Sparpen
Now click on Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contast and adjust as you see fit, Click OK
Now click on Image > Adjustments > Color Balance and adjust as you see fit, Click OK

Now we select our Arcane Circle template layer and paste it under the toons layer
Scale it to your liking and Click on Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen
Right-Click this layer and click Duplicate Layer
Click on the bottom duplicated layer, then right-click the Arcane Circle Mask layer on the template and click Copy Layer Style
Right-Click on the bottom duplicated layer and click Past Layer Style

It should look like this:


Now Select the top Arcane Circle layer on our image and click the Magic Selection Tool, make sure Contiguous is selected at the top.

Click inside the circle.
Now Click on the Lasso tool and hold down shift and select the areas you'd like to be outside of the circle of your toon



Now click Select > Inverse
Now click on the Toons layer and press delete

Now duplicate your toons layer
Click the bottom duplicated layer
Click on the little fx button under your layers (Add a layer style)
Click Color Overlay and select black, Click Ok/Ok
Then Click Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Make the Radius 2.0 pixels, Click OK

Now Duplicate this layer and select the bottom duplicated layer
Move this layer slight down and to the left or right as you see fit
Select the Opacity on top of the layers and move the slider to 75%

Use the Magic Wand tools and un-check Contiguous, click inside the Arcane Circle, then click
the bottom duplicated layer and press delete, also use the lasso to remove parts you don't want.
It should now look like a shadow on your arcane circle.



Now we place our Foreground image, cut and paste it UNDER the lower arcane circle layer.
Shrink to where it looks right (Edit > Transform > Scale)
Click Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen on the layer and adjust brightness etc to your liking.

Use the Magic Wand tool to Select inside the Arcane Circle (with Contiguous ON), then click on
Select > Modify > Expand
Select to Expand By 3 px, OK
Select > Inverse

Then click on our foreground layer and press delete



Now we paste our background as the very bottom layer of our image and size/adjust as you like.



We now want our Text, I'm going to use Folkard as my font with a size of 36 pt
I now copy the layer style from my Wrath of the Lich King text layer and paste it onto this layer
Make sure your text layer is on top so as to be the highest layer
Select the First Initial, change the size to 48 pt and the Font to Ruritania
Move the layer where you want it

I use JaneAusten with a 24pt for my Realm text and paste the layer style onto this one as well
I use Morpheus with a 30pt for my Guild text



On our template, click on ALL of the eyes next to each layer from Vanilla Text DOWN, leave the ones above seen.

Uncheck the eyes next to the layers that do not represent your toons race/class/faction
For me I only have the circles with Paladin , Alliance , Dwarf selected


Click Select > All
Edit > Copy Merged

Paste this one, size to fit and place where you want.
Uncheck the Alliance eye
This should show the Dwarves circle
Then do the same for Paladin

Make sure the Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen each one after resizing

Now I go back to WoW Model Viewer and make a companion, mount, etc and add shadows to my toons and his pets (you can find various tutorials for shadows online). Just use the animations and sliders, etc... make sure to make it nice and high resolution so you can shrink it down (And don't forget to Sharpen it once it's on the Wallpaper).

And voila!
