Congrats !!
Congrats !!
Remember how Google started people! You would be crazy as a human being to turn down millions.
All the top raid guilds and arena teams in WoW have sponsers now. For some, that pays the mortgage.
And with that, mmo-champion.com ads have been blocked.
Been using the site for 5 years, and as far as I can tell there are none. People just don't like large conglomerates. They somehow believe that Activision is destroying Blizzard although there is plenty of information about how bad Blizzard really was (especially to their employees) way before Activision actually got it.
MMO-champ to me was a nice site where stuff weren't as complicated and business-a-like like say curse own website. I hate their website and it makes me feel like i'm on some business site where all they really want is to strip me of my cash! I didn't like it one bit when wowmatrix got blocked by curse.
I dont want to be a part of some big business network where my news flow is being controlled by some money hungry big industry. I dunno... This whole thing is giving me a VERY bad taste in my mouth...
I dont think this will end well... Damn i feel heartbroken :'(
Picture yourself your mom sold your ass off to some stranger.. a bit like that feeling.
Just keep in mind its we, the fan-base, that have made this site successful enough for Curse to buy it. If they go monkeying around with it to the point we no longer feel its relevant to our needs or too cumbersome or becomes pay-for-play, we'll move along and leave this place hanging.
This makes me happy I use adblock plus.
I'm not a Curse representative tyvm.
Sure, you may think WoWMatrix provided a better service, but it outright leeched Curse's servers, while not giving anything in return. (running servers of those magnitudes costs money, as I'm sure you understand) Of course they did not want to cooperate with them after that. As far as I understand, it also modified addons sometimes. As an ignorant end user I don't expect you to care, but I hope you'll learn to do so.
way to sell out Boubouille. You ruined the site upgrading to VB, now you sold out to Curse. You're pathetic, absolutely pathetic. You used to break news and have great articles, then you became blizzards little lapdog, and now this? Way to ruin what used to be the #1 site on the internet for WoW related news. Now you're no better than the rest of them. A little lapdog thats sold out.
That's exactly what Blizzard said when they merged with Activision, and that turned out to be true... Not. But I trust that MMO-Champ won't redo the mistakes that Blizzard did.No, seriously. This change will hardly affect the users, we will see a lot of improvements on the site over the next few months
Do you understand anything about marketing? Seriously? Why does a denim company want 5 different brands of jeans? Why does Proctor and Gamble own everything from potato chips to laundry detergent? Why do most porn producers own around 100 sites that all show basically the same content? Its called marketing. I've personally never felt the desire to visit WOR. I'm sure there are people that never visited mmo-champion but go to WOR daily. Its all about getting the max bang for your buck by marketing to as many people as possible.
Dont get all high and mighty thinking this website is good its just forums thats it now you sold it its going to take advantage of all the braindead ppl outthere when this premium stuff comes out!!!
I bet you will have to pay to write something on the forum or pay to see blue tracker .. you sold your soul to the devil now wow fans will see your true colors
Quote from curse: [h][t][t][p][:][/][/]techcrunch[.]com/2010/07/19/curse-mmo-champion-wow/
".... Visitors to MMO-Champion will note that it isn’t a particularly attractive website — in fact, it’s downright dated, with a design that wouldn’t have looked out of place in 2001. Curse knows this, and Thieblot says that the company intends to redesign the site in the near future with plans to also improve the MMO-Champion forums, which he says are “exploding”....."
They layout of mmo-champion works. I used to use worldofraids about equally with mmo-champion, until worldofraids changed, wasn't a lot, but was enough that it wasn't worth the bother anymore. Hopefully mmo and boub will keep the focus on the large news panel of the site, easy to read and not squashed or anything. A slightly better way to browse/search through the old news could be good, but thats about all tbh. If mmo does become more awkward to use, then while I'll still keep an eye on it, same as I still check worldofraids every couple of weeks, but I will be keeping an eye out for a replacement site.
So heres hoping mmo doesn't change too much.
The problem with the term "redesign" is that most people don't really know what design is. As a designer myself I can assure you that a great design involves a lot more than making something good-looking, especially when it comes to websites.
