Question regarding recommended settings from games.

My computer is fairly decent, 2.8 quad cpu, 8 gigs of RAM, and Radeon 5750 video card.

Whenever I install a new game that has a feature to auto detect your hardware and recommend settings, it's always low or tells me I can't run the game. Once I boot the game up I can always run the game on at -least- normal settings, usually high... why the hell is this happening?

If the games affected are all recent then my initial thought it that some of your hardware is being incorrectly indentified.
Try seeing if you can obtain updated drivers for anything, and run windows update for good measure.
