In name only, unless it becomes apparent that Lillian Voss sold he soul to some demons for her powers and the ability to stay youthful and pretty.

Maybe Lillian Voss could be pursued across Azeroth by a guy named Garrick Wildseeker...

Cliches don't have to be perfect matches, and rarely are.

• Bit of a loose cannon considering the Order he's in.
• Deceived by agent of evil.
• Slays numerous innocents as a result.
• Kills former master.
• Becomes primary villain (although this is slightly arguable with Vader).

It seems to me that people are just trying their hardest to kick the forsaken in the ribs. We had to wait until freaking WotLK to get anything of real importance to the world. That trend is continuing in Cata and people take issue with it for whatever reason.

I like Lillian. I hope that we see more of her in the future, and that she developed along a better path than some of the other more recent characters in WoW.
In short, stop peeing in my Cheerios.

Be honest with yourself, if Voss was some ridiculously unique character, haters would still hate, because to do so would mean that blizzard would be deviating from the fantasy genre, which has been all but fully explored and played out. People keep saying, "oh another powerful character, LAME", wtf do you wan't, your faction leader to go die to wolves at Northshire Abbey? Yea, that would go over well, "Guys oh em gee, Jillian Hoss is so awesome, the wolves bit her brother and turned him into a Worgen, so she went for revenge, but got clusterfucked on the way to Gilneas by the adds roaming across the street, she is soooo cool!"

Every single important lore character is a walking cliché. Lillian Voss is as lame and uninteresting as the rest.

She is too overpowered, too strong and too resillient. I don't like the character one bit at all. Killing half the Crusaders in Tirisfal glades just by walking over them quite literally over and over does the opposite for me of taking keen interest in the character.

Doesn't lose to his mentor? Arthas kills Uther the Light-Bringer his mentor the same as Vader kills Obi-wan. Vader does lose his arm to Obi-wan though. Both mentors tried to bring their respective pupils back to the light.

But you are right Vader doesn't have a dad and Arthas loses himself to the Lich King and is only brought back at the moment of his death.

One more thing to make them cliche though: Both are whiny little b*tches.
