As for your point, yes Elemental and Balance are the only caster(damage) specs in their class, but that doesn't mean in any way that they have less survivability in their class.
--> TL,DR <-- Said it many times now, shamans can deal with most things.
For example, frost mages have more survivability than, say, a fire mage, true. They have ice barrier and many snares in addition to a powerful stun. However, elemental shamans have a lot of tools just the same. Theirs may not be as obvious, but they have them. Clicking a move that clearly says "Click me to take less damage or you die" like ice barrier is obviously a powerful defencive ability, however shamans have abilities that are equally potent. A talent that makes you passively take 30% less damage while in any form of cc (where you are the most vulnerable) which doesn't even have to be activated and doesn't have a cooldown is far more desirable, and remember this is on top of the fact that Shamans are less "squishy" than a mage when you compare their default survivability.
Sure shamans can be killed, but so can a frost mage. If an elemental shaman knows what he is doing he can
1) Use his many tools to prevent melee getting a proper shot at him (Thunderstorm, earthbind, ghost wolf to name a few all work very well and are on short / no cooldowns, and while they don't say "Click me to take less damage" like Ice barrier or dispersion might, they have the same effect - making you take less damage - while Thunderstorm also deals damage.)
2) Use the best interrupt in the game to prevent casters getting their more powerful spells off, or line of sight casters/ hunters with their superior mobility. In addition, thunderstorm works well against casters who are trying to nuke if timed right, and grounding totem also can save your life. Getting Crowd controlled by them? Not much of a problem, as you are taking less damage automatically and you have tremor totem that helps with most of those.
3) You can also nuke harder than most classes in the game. Most of these abilities wont need to be used when often you can kill them faster than they can kill you.
4) If all else fails heroism gives you the most powerful buff in the game for 45 seconds. If that isn't brilliant survivability I don't know what is.
So yes, you have a right to your opinion, but when you post it on a forum and ask for it to be discussed, don't whine when people disagree with you and show you why.
