i wouldn't hesitate to speak of my girlfriend as "cute" (or "süß/niedlich" in german). sometimes that is intended to imply "pretty/sexy/beautiful", sometimes it's not.

If you like fantasy Record of Lodoss War is amazing.

Newer anime, Full metal Alchemist was amazing.

It's difficult to take meaning from what you see in anime, as love in anime is typically portrayed as much more innocent than it actually is IRL. And since kawaisa is an innocent word...

I don't know about looking like 20... but on zettai karen children, when the main characters were 10 year old they looked like 6 or 7 year old... now that they are 12, they look 16...

Heard a lot of good reviews of it, might give it a shot.

I have to say I actually very much so dislike most of the newer stuff Like bleach and all that other crap. When when hubby and I actually sat down and watch FMA I was blown away with how deep the story is. Don't get me wrong it has his cute chibi freak out moments that totally make you lol, but the story is very very well done. I am actually looking forward to watching the remake that is suppose to be closer to the manga.
