As for deathnote my friend really likes it, but I just can't get into it. I think with the newer anime's is all the super fangirling that goes on, on deviant art that makes me hate the newer animes lol. I really need to give alot of them a chance like I did with FMA, because I really ended up loving that series.

maybe try Kanon 2006 some time. it has a good story too (but not as deep and complex as ergo proxy or death note), lots of wonderful sarcastic humor and some fantasy and romance.

sadly, i'm not that versed when it comes to animes for girls. nearly all of the animes i watched are either for guys or both genders.

a very good and mature manga (though it isn't an action manga, so not everybody will know how to appreciate it) is otaku no musume-san... translating: otaku's daughter...

it's abou an otaku guy who suddenly discovers he has a daughter... and has to take care of her with no paternal experience at all... he also has to protect her from his best friend who happens to be a pedo, but that's just comic relief, not the main problem around the story's core lol

No, I know it can be used for many things, and you could call that Blood Elf I was talking about kawaii... But I think she was pretty, and I prefer the word Kirei. It isn't so over used, and it is nice to pronounce.

I know it is childish. I know it doesn't have a great story. But I love the Pokemon, I like the areas, I like the music, and it has a lot of nostalgia for me.

Heard a lot of good reviews of it, might give it a shot.

after thinking about it for a while, i think there is just a word missing in english (or in my knowledge of the english vocabulary^^).
if i were to translate "cute" into german it would be either "süß" or "niedlich". "süß" could also be translated to "sweet" (both for food and persons).
when i'd call my girlfriend "süß", it would sometimes equal "sexy". but not every time, depending on the reason and situation.
"niedlich" however can be used for adults who behave or look very innocent, but wouldn't equal "sexy".

so "kawaii" would be "niedlich", but not necessarly "süß".

i hope that makes sense..

It kind of does.
In England, we mainly use the word "Cute" for the things you might expect. Kittens, Puppies, etc.
But recently it has been used for a lot more. Usually with girls, if they see a handsome guy they might say "Oooh he's cute" as in, handsome, sexy, etc. I have never heard a guy call a girl that he was attracted to "cute" but I hear girls call guys "cute" meaning attractive a lot. It's just one of those things I guess.

Ghibli.

Ghibli studies have some of the most impressive bunch of movies I have ever seen. Pity I haven't seen Ponyo yet...
I was in Hong Kong in November last year, and bought it there (it wasn't released here until June this year) for a friend of mine because she loved Ghibli as much as me, and having a new Ghibli movie on DVD for her I think she loved, 'specially since she would get it before everyone else in England, but never saw it myself =[
I don't think anything will beat Princess Mononoke though!
