Best for my situation - Prot or Ret?

One of my alts hit level 80 about 3 months ago. Other than logging in once a week for wintergrasp, I haven't played him at all. He has pretty much perfect wellfare gear; 4 wrathful, 4 furious, 4 relentless, etc. I think i might do a few BG's on him, just for a bit of fun. He's currently spec'ed ret. I'm asking myself whether or not I'd fare better as Prot. The reason I think this is because my weapon is far behind all of my other gear. I think it's ilvl 200 (whatever the titansteel thing is). I figure that maybe because Prot's damage is based a little more on AP than weapon damage, I'd be more efficient. Keep in mind that (1) I'll be bad on this character no matter what I play and (2) My replacement 1Her and shield would be just as bad as my current weapon set up.

If there would really be no difference, that's fine too. Just tell me to man up and faceroll.

I have to agree with this, even if one spec is slightly more effective than the other if you don't actually enjoy playing it, then it's not really worth it.
