What is your favorite ACTION FLICK or what are your Must haves in your collection?
Mine is Universal Solider, it was a horrible film with your basic mindless action but I loved it, and it has never been bettered by any equals.

Milli Vanilli, Bigger than Elvis
For my favorite action movies I've got to go with these Hong Kong films from the 80's. Duel To The Death and The Killer. They both have plots that start out rather cheesy but make for a great movie once you get invested into the characters. Lots of killing, exciting action scenes, tropes, plot twists, and a tragic ending.
Nothing beats Aliens.
"Would you please let me join your p-p-party?
Commando has to be near or at the top of the list for me. The action, the bad guys, the dialogue. All delicious 80s cheese.
Edit: 2 more.
Bloodsport was a great film before I knew what a piece of shit Frank Dux was, and honestly that just made it better.
Under Siege was pretty entertaining and one of the few movies of Seagals I can tolerate.

Edge of Tomorrow is a must watch in my opinion
Its marketing campaign floundered hard, but that doesn't detract how amazing the actual movie is
Dredd
Bourne Identity
Die Hard (1)
Predator
Terminator 2 (not sure if this counts more as sci-fi or action)
Mad max fury Road is a good modern action film.
Face off and the rock are awesome 90s action movies.
And for 80s I'd go predator and rambo
Tons of stuff mentioned, as well as many from Shaw Brothers, especially the ones featuring the Venom Mob.
Crippled Avengers? Five Element Ninjas? Masked Avengers? Ten Tigers of Kwangtung? The Five Venoms? Hell yes.
Need Roll - 1 for [Bright Pink Imbued Mageweave Banana-Hammock] by Ayirasi
Can't give a favorite, but a most recent: Second half of 13 Assassins (2010) was really well done.
The Punisher(1989) with Dolph Lundgren.
Aliens (Alien II)
Apocalypse Now
Die Hard I
The Terminator I & II
Predator
The Gladiator
The Matrix
300
The Dark Knight
Battle Los Angeles
Edge of Tomorrow
For big dumb action, I can rewatch almost any Mission Impossible (3 and onwards) or Fast and Furious movie (5 and onwards) without getting sick of them. Basic stupid fun.
action isnt my top live action genre(anime wise it oddly is in the top kinda weird lol),but its sci fi stuff(the kind that is more on the mystery side of things not action, like annihilation as oposed to matrix style),i absolutely love lovecraftian stuff, and i feel its a crime holywood has done literaly nothing of note in the modern era,i also rly enjoy mob movies(not for the action)
but some action movies i liked have been among the marvel movies, jurassic park, mad max 2015,nolan batman
I also prefer series over films, stuff like the boys, last kingdom,vikings...but again, its not the action stuff that i feel is best, its sci fi or mob stuff like the expanse, altered carbon, humans, true detective, ozark, raised by wolves, peaky blinders, sopranos, boarwalk empire, westworld, better call saul(honestly prefer this over breaking bad)....some of these do have action if thats what you are looking for but its not the main focus
Face Off one of my favorites of all time. Then again I loved all of Nicholas Cages old Movies Face Off, Snake Eyes, Bringing out the Dead. I like Matrix movies, Equilibrium, Blade Movies.
Mad Max: Fury Road is the best pure action film ever made. It's spectacular. I have seen the film screened for audiences many times and in many different ways; 70mm, black & white, silent, open-air, Dolby vision, 4d, etc. Not even once did an audience not gasp aloud during the film.
I think Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the finest films ever made and certainly the most enjoyable action genre film I have seen.
Other favorites for me personally are in no particular order; Predator, Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Bloodsport, Con Air, Cobra, Dredd, The Raid, Lethal Weapon, John Wick, Mad Max 2, Bullit, Casino Royale, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Haywire, Police Story, Hard Boiled, Point Break, Wu Assassins, First Blood, Five Deadly Venoms, Super Ninjas, American Ninja, Boiling Point, Dead or Alive.

In terms of action, I'd have to go with Predator, its probably (in my opinion) the quintessential 80s action movie, that still holds up today, and really makes me miss the genre.
Dredd and mad max fury road. none stop amazing, im going to watch both this weekend. thanks for the thread
Con Air for me. It's so action packed, and such an interesting ensemble of villains for the good guy to have to overcome. Cyrus The Virus played by the great John Malkovich, Diamond Dog, Billy Bedlum, Johnny 23 played by Danny Trejo, Pinball played by Dave Chappelle, Garland Greene played by Steve Buscemi, with John Cusack playing Detective Vince Larkin.
Yeah Aliens is #1 for me but a got a soft spot for Doberman and The Raid 1 and 2.
Doberman also got a BlueRay Release a few years ago and the quality is awesome.

Lots of good ones, I'll narrow down my favorites;
Predator. Classic as classics get, and Arnie's best.
Dredd is how you do an adaptation and a good movie right all in one package. So rare it deserves mention for that alone.
Mad Max 2 and Fury Road are equally as good, albeit the latter does have more action and some of the most spectacular visuals ever put to film.
Edge of Tomorrow blends sci-fi and action really well, Emily Blunt is and looks kickass in it, and if nothing else you get to see Tom Cruise die over and over in various creative ways.
Does First Blood even count as an action flick considering its premise? I'll add it there anyway, best Rambo movie and best Stallone one even.
John Wick is the slick and modern answer to the macho and old-fashioned 80's and 90's action movies, and surpasses most of them on the way while not even getting worse sequel by sequel which is a feat in and of itself.
And finally, can't forget Die Hard, the progenitor of possible more imitators than any of these movies. Sadly that one definitely did get worse over time.
