Cataclysm Currency Changes Formula
Expect an interesting update in a few minutes.

Here's some information on how each of the currencies will be converted in the next content patch. Keep in mind these values may change, and they can get a bit math heavy. Just know that our intent is to appropriately value each mark and provide a conversion we feel is fair.

The following items are immediately converted to gold:

• Emblem of Heroism = 5.5 gold each
• Emblem of Valor = 5.5 gold each
• Emblem of Conquest = 5.5 gold each
• Badge of Justice = 1.833 gold each

Your New Honor Points total will be the sum of the following amounts:

• Old Honor * 0.024
• Old Arena Points * 0.85
• Battleground Mark of Honor * 2.976
• Wintergrasp Mark of Honor * 19.08
• Stone Keeper Shard * 1.6
• Venture Coin * 3
• Spirit Shard * 1

Your Justice Points total will be equal to (Emblems of Triumph + Emblems of Frost ) * 2.75

Again, the softcap for both Honor and Justice conversions is 4000 points. This means that if a character converts to above 4,000 points, it will not be possible for them to earn more until they fall below the 4,000 cap.

A hardcap will be implemented in a following patch before Cataclysm's release. At that time, any excess points above 4,000 will be converted as follows:

• Honor points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 35 silver per point of Honor.
• Justice points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 2 gold per point of Justice.

What I want to know is will Justice points be able to buy stuff first tier of Cata? That way I know if I should be saving them or buying saronites now.

The triumph and frost badge conversion rate STILL seems too low compared to prices on the PTR.

1.8G per badge of justice, on the other hand, is way too generous.

I would imagine that justice points will:
- be able to by heroic dungeon equivalent gear
- might be able to buy 1 or 2 pieces of T11, but not the whole set

I think they already said it.

You won't be able to buy anything at 85 with your current type of points since that would require the other tier points (heroism points I think).

They didn't say anything of the sort.

Current tier gear will be the high end points (not justice).

Previous tier will be justice points.

They haven't explicitly said but it stands to reason that there will be non-tier level 85 gear to purchase with justice points immediately upon the release of cataclysm. Otherwise the points are absolutely, positively, useless.

T10 will get replaced with quest gear in a level or two (Plus its cheaper by far to buy with badges than with points).

Old cap 75000h * 0,024=1800. Not even half of the new cap. I hope the price of pvp stuff will also follow this rule (*0,024)

The arrows on the text boxes do not work to calculate the value. Even if you use the arrows to put in the number and then click in the box and hit enter it still doesn't work. The number must be typed and then you must hit enter or tab. Perhaps you can fix this? I'm using Chrome as a browser.

yes, that means you get like extra 8g for soloing a level 70 heroic, which is a joke, of course.

Stop trading your Wintergrasp Marks of Honor for Wintergrasp Commendations. You'll get more honor from the mark conversion than the honor conversion (if I did my math correctly). 171 new honor for 9 commendations vs. 48 new honor for the 2000 old honor.

EDIT: Grats to the guy who said he had 4000 venture coins yesterday!

Likely that Valor points will drop in both heroics and the first teir of raiding, just like Wotlk with Heroism emblems. Justice points might be able to buy blue sets or items, or even certain profession mats, but dont expect to buy epics of any kind with Justice points. Unless its an absurd amount that you need for one item. But since theyre letting us farm points here soon, I dont find it likely.
