I was in a onyxia raid and then i saw a big yellow line in my screen saying game time expires in 3 minutes :P

I usually instance with a partner, and when the group is horrible he'll usually do something like "Sorry guys, gtg. Need to Masturbate before my mom gets home." or something along those lines. I'll chime in a second after and say "He might need some help." and leave right after that.

That's probably one of the worst excuses, lol. Like "Damn, my girlfriend is suddenly pregnant, I gotta go!"

A bad one I came across when the LFD system first came out, we just zoned in and after dying from his own dumb mistakes, this guy goes "Oh no, my internet connection is dying" and then he proceeds with a dramatic "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" before leaving the group.

Can't... stop... laughing....

OT, I have yet to see any stupid excuses. As for myself though I just drop group.

The rarest I know of is one I used and was true:

My computer room is in my basement so it looked like no one was home. My wife and I had been on vacation and just got back the previous day. She was at work, my car in the garage... Apparently, my wife's heroin addict cousin got word that we were out of town.

I did come back to the computer once he was down/tied and police called but just let the group know what was up/I'm ok but gonna be a while so find another...
