Thread: Smite build?

    Smite build?

Anyone who is in a position to comment on that Smite build thats surfaced in the discipline tree with atonement/evangelism?

Is it a legitimate spec or is it a niche bui´ld only useful when facerolling or doing some boss with a tight enrage timer?

Anyone tested output of dmg/healing for such a spec?

you don't have so many choice in disci (pve), it's either this build or points invested in Heal/greater heal to reduce weakened soul debuff, penance/inner focus cd.

i don't like the idea of casting great heal in disci so i choosed the evangelism spec on the ptr, it's fun, i like it.

I tested the healing of it. You can find my findings here:

I have also been looking at a smite spec and came up with this for lvl 80: http://wowtal.com/#k=_18Lz65-.a2y.priest
And for lvl 85 i am looking at http://wowtal.com/#k=BeyoAOck.a2y.priest or http://wowtal.com/#k=_AX_tqru.a2y.priest
The second spec would make it pretty easy to get hit capped which will be a absolute must for this spec.
In case of the first spec you would use http://db.mmo-champion.com/i/45758/g...vine-accuracy/ to cap smite.
However with the second spec you would also cap holy fire which makes it possible to use http://db.mmo-champion.com/i/42416/glyph-of-smite/ without having to worry about your holy fire missing.

I have no idea what the max DPS a smite build with holy fire (and maybe SW:P and DP if it's a dps increase) would be able to put out but I would personally like it to be possible to also use it as a dps+healer spec. Meaning that you would function as a 60%healer+60%dps spec for fight where less healers are required then other fights. But where you can switch to a healer oriented rotation (dropping holy fire and also using PW:S and possible heals) when more healing is required.

The point of the smite build isn't to do good dps, the point is to get maximum use out of attonement, arch & evangilism. Holy Fire really isn't going to come into it, as it will be a net loss to the HPS of pure smite spam.

I'm pretty sure you won't be getting close to 60% of a dps spec, you'll be maybe 30%.

Oh and there's really no point picking up SoS in a smite build, you will never cast heal on the tank with it. Better to put a point in MA.
