Blizzard, you can do better than this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te5UxxpxKyw

    al'akir....is practically Malygos 2.0

"Lair" raid (almost no bosses and no trash)
    Giant platform
    Avoid obvious dangers
Low heal phase....OH LOOK, THE PLATFORM IS DESTROYED
    Heart of wind......Heart of magic(malygos)

I watched this and just /facepalmed, what is with blizzard killing off powerful lore figures in the first tier of raiding? and being similar fights?

    Malygos was a great idea...

When I first heard that the platform was going to break and Drakes would catch us I thought it was Epic...

What killed Mally (besides stupid people who can't move to the right) was the commands of the drakes...just wasn't fun...

So this time we still have our abilities so I'll give it a chance...
As for everything else...well..its beta testing...So...it'll change somewhat between now and then..

I saw absolutely nothing similar to Malygos. Countless bosses are fought on giant platforms, there is a council boss fight before Al'akir, the final phase is not vehicles and the mechanics are utterly different. It's as similar to Malygos as Kael'Thas is to Kil'Jaeden.

just another whiny baby whining about pointless things. next.

Have you done this encounter? It's very fun.

There's a coordination element to the second phase I don't think you're seeing. The Stormling's deaths need to be timed such that the feedback debuff keeps rolling on Al'Akir.

Further, the last phase is pretty difficult. You need to stay right near Al'Akir or you get caught in the relentless storm, but you also need do some pretty precise positioning (in a hurry) to not chain the lightning that increases in damage with each jump, and react to the lightning rod. He also needs to die before you run out of room and have to double back through a lightning cloud (assured deaths). It's extremely healing intensive because of how much damage wind burst does.

P.S. The 'obvious dangers' are the least important part of the encounter, the acid rain soft enrage is the real danger in phase 2.

Personally, I love this encounter. It's everything Malygos SHOULD have been. Malygos devolved into 'sit on eachother, spam 2 buttons'.

Dude, Al'akir fucking whips us up into a giant magical hurricane.

If you don't want to participate in that, the portal's over there. Don't let the arcane backlash hit your ass on the way out. :P

It is no Malygos, not even close.

That fight looks a bit like Malygos, but barely. Looks incredible though.

Why don't you tell the most successful multi-billion-dollar video game company on the planet that they could do better as you sit at home in your sweatpants.

    buzz off.

That looks like a great fight and has very little in common with Malygos. You go into the air again for p3 but you dont get tossed on some mount that has nothing to do with your class/spec. I can't wait to run this myself.

What's that? Wasting your time complaining about a fight on these forums instead of the official forums? For the record, the giant platform and avoid obvious dangers summed up 90% of all fights in WoW, and the air phase for Al'akir was fucking awesome to watch, dunno about you.

Have any of you ever actually raided malygos? That fight was absolutly nothing like maly.

The platform gets destroyed and then there are no drakes. All is well in the world, looking forward to it

You're looking at it the wrong way
-before the fight the boss is basicly telling you to GTFO or face the consiquences
-hazards that are completly obvious that they are hazards (tornados and malys giant laz0r)
-They spin the players in tornados and just lol the whole time
-In low health phase the bosses yell "ENOUGH, IMA BLOW UP DIS PLATFORM AND KILL YOU ALL GG"
-the boss dies and falls, the loot is in a heart, again
-susposed to be powerful lore character that get taken out in the first tier of raiding, like seriously

Because that's totally unique to Malygos.

Air-based boss. Maybe it is like Malygos, but it fits.

-In low health phase the bosses yell "ENOUGH, IMA BLOW UP DIS PLATFORM AND KILL YOU ALL GG"
OMG it's just like Bowser in Super Mario 64! What copycats!

Most bosses fall when they die. There's just nothing for him (or Malygos) to land on.

-susposed to be powerful lore character that get taken out in the first tier of raiding, like seriously
You want every boss up until the final tier to be some nobody?

Kael'thas and Kil'Jaeden are actually quite similar. For one, both names start with the letter K, which is short for...kuhraaaaazy. Second, both had a hard-on for the color red and blood-elf girls. Third, they both were defeated at the Sunwell. Lastly, they both hate people who make threads comparing things that are as different as bananas and grape drink.

Pretty sure none of you have any idea what he means. Okay what he actually means is the fight is similar to Malygos, in a sense that we stand on a platform and at the end it breaks and we kill him in the Air. Dont need to flame him, because he is right, the fight looks dull and Al'akir is 'practically' in Malygos' shoes right now. Maly, a MAJOR lore charactor, was killed off by such a dull boring raid in 1st tier of raiding, hardly anyone saw the 25man version pugged nor 10man because so many failure casuals out there.
Wasting major lore characters in small raids is horrible >.<
