Warren Sapp played in the NFL for 13 years, now makes $115k+ a month, owns 260 pairs of Jordan's ... yet is filing for bankruptcy. Oh yeah, he apparently 'lost' his 2002 Superbowl ring he got w/ the Bucs and the 1991 National Championship ring he got while at the U.

    Athletes are suck a joke.

Not all athletes, just the idiots, which is most of them. Lotto winners are the same way though. Almost anyone who goes from nothing to millions ends up pissing it all away because they are morons.

And bullshit he lost his rings. He is hiding them somewhere to protect them from debt collectors.

Yeah professional athletes that go from nothing to millions of dollars usually piss all there money on dumb shit. I think they should make athletes take economics and other money management classes in college even if they don't go pro they could still use the class it wouldn't hurt anyways. Just doing napkin math 260 pairs of Jordan's is a quarter mill at least if not up to half depending on special editions nice way to spend on something that's not worth much. Also I don't know many people that would complain about 100k a month salary.

In college doesn't matter, especially in the NFL, because honestly if you haven't picked up common sense in three years of college then you aren't going to pick it up ever. Each league makes every single one of their rookies go through some brief education at their various rookie symposiums. They tell them they need to break away from their former posses, need to save their money, they even tell them how to do it and give them contact information for financial people who work with the NFL so they don't get Madoff'd. It doesn't stick because they just don't care and can't understand the money flow won't last forever. Unless you literally take all their money and manage it for them a huge portion of them are going to waste it on complete and total crap.

If you want the best proof ever look at Chris Singleton for the Washington Wizards. He blew $10,000 on the Mega Millions the other day, proportionate to like $300 for a normal person but still, for no other reason than if it wasn't lotto it would have been blown at a club. Who the hell spends half a year's salary for a normal person at a club?

    ^ This.

I'd give you rep if this forum had any type of system like that.

Yeah, I remember that story, but there's a big difference between being generous and just being completely wasteful. If I remember right, one of the reason's he left such a large tip was because they had a large party and they were there quite awhile. Also, I believe the reason the waiter was fired had to do w/ the fact that the picture of the receipt he posted still had Peyton's credit card number on it. (lol)

Only had the last 4 digits on it, which are very easy to obtain as it is.
You can tell WoW changed the MMO for good when players started complaining about the amount of time they sink, into a time sink.

Seahawks bring back CB Marcus Trufant. He was cut earlier this year because of cap reasons.

Panthers give WR Steve Smith 3 year extension.

N.O. Saints owner spoke with David Stern about buying the Hornets. The NBA is trying to find an ownership group that would keep the Hornets in New Orleans.

Well, if it had to be someone it would be nice to see it be someone who turned the Aints around.

I just love the total joke that is the NBA and NHL trying to force owners to keep failing teams in mediocre or awful markets. The NHL has been trying to unload the Coyotes for four years now because they insist the team must remain in Glendale where a division winning playoff team can't bring in 60% of a full stadium unless they are playing the Red Wings, Leafs, or other major Northern market team. That has worked out so well resulting in about 20 ownership groups walking away, two of which went on to buy different NHL franchises in about a week's worth of work with Atlanta and St Louis. All because the NHL kicks and screams about needing to stay in Glendale/Phoenix for whatever reason (TV Money cough). The NBA is getting there with the Hornets. If they would allow the team to move the Hornets, Coyotes, and every other failing team would sell in a damn heartbeat and be moved to Seattle, Quebec, etc. where they will thrive.

While the idea of seeing Parcells coaching again would great, I'm glad to see that he decided against it. Hate to see him have to wait another 5 years for a chance at the HoF because of a 1-year stint w/ the Saints.

Jets ownership has told HBO that the team wants to do Hard Knocks this season, but Rex Ryan has said that he, "doesn't want a circus-like atmosphere around the team." Never thought I'd hear Rex say something like that. Glad to see the train wreck that was last season has finally tempered him a bit. Looks like HBO's Plan B is to do a joint show between the Harbaugh brothers. Jacksonville is also said to be interested. Also of note: quite possibly the most unflattering picture of Rex Ryan I have ever seen.

Could you imagine the ratings bonanza that would be Tebow on Hard Knocks? I won't count the Jets out of it until another team is signed in ink because the Tebow draw is just way, way to valuable to not chase until it is unattainable for sure.

These are why I'm never going to root for the Jets, even if they play the Raiders. What a fucked up organization.

Well this year he better walk the walk instead of talking the talk. If he doesn't get into the playoffs I don't see him coaching The Jets in 2013.

So Rex Ryan just said he doesn't want to coach the Jets. That's what I just heard.

Yet another example of why I hate athletes today (in regards to money).

Bryant McKinnie has made a pretty good amount of money in his career, yet still felt the need to take out a $4.2 Mil. loan as 'insurance' during the lockout. The 'company' he got the loan thru sounds like a glorified loan shark. He missed a payment last year and now they're suing him for the full amount (as well as a seperate $229k loan he took out).

All that for a lockout that lasted, what, 5 months?

Looks like the Atlanta Falcons got the offer to do Hard Knocks this year.

I can't think of a team I would be less interested in watching on Hard Knocks than the Falcons. What a boring team.
