    Update on Nnamdi Asomugha --

" The Jets are out of the Asomugha sweepstakes for the time being, a league source told NFL Network's Albert Breer. " - nfl.com/freeagency.

Well, that's that. They made players reconstruct their contracts and ended up not getting him. The next best thing is Richard Marshall, but rumor is he's going to Pittsburgh. I haven't heard any more on that, though.

Will update when he makes his choice.

    Update #2 --

    Eagles snagged Nnamdi. Confirmed.

Wow, so now with Asomugha and Rodgers-Cromartie (via Kevin Kolb trade), it will be interesting to see what the Eagles do with Asante Samuel.

So Arizona paid out the ass for Kolb (who's unproven). Seattle got Tavaris Jackson (who's unproven). Tennessee got Hasselbeck, who's old and hurt. At least he can be there to teach Locker. I feel sorry for Arizona.

What do you guys think the Eagles are gonna do with Asante Samuel? There's been a bunch of trade talk, sending him to the Jets - Cowboys - Ravens - Patriots so far. I think they're gonna get a pick out of him and he'll end up on the Jets opposite Revis.

News has been quiet this morning so far.

@Pendulous, agree 100%. Kolb had some great WR's to make him look good I think. I also think Tavaris Jackson is just a decent qb and isn't starter quality. I think that's why they got Hasselbeck, tbh. They know they're not gonna win Super Bowls with that team, it's to mentor Locker.

Jets got Plaxico, From one New York team to another, lol.

It appears that the Ravens got Leach, yosh! A blocking, down to Earth fullback, who doesn't bitch about not getting enough carries!

    Peyton got re-sign
So, Addai just got a new contract (Espn News)
Clint Session is out of the picture ( didnt know that) and he's now a with Jags (same division) , I wish for Peyton he was a good friend with him , After I saw him running through Matt Shaub last year , I dont want that guy after me

So the dream teams is The Eagle , I wonder how many ego are going to be able to fit in this team

Is it just me or is anyone else wondering how the Eagles can afford all these new additions? The cap actually went down from last season and I didn't see the eagles make any major cuts.

Quite a bit of our team is young and still under rookie contracts, leaving a ton of cap room for the near future. That's why the Birds are stocking up to win and win now, before the rookie contracts come up for renegotiation (see Desean Jackson's issue, now multiply that by 4-5).

Heres how I'm seeing it as far as Eagle expenditures this season:
Cap is at 126 million I believe, which is down 20 million from last season; Subtract Kevin Kolb as the one big "loss" with him set to make about 3ish million from his contract extension.
    Jason Babin-4-6 million cap hit
    Asomugha-8-12 million cap hit
Mike Vick-Franchised for 12-14 million cap hit
    Cullen Jenkins-3-5 million cap hit
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie-2 million-ish cap hit (Actually pretty cheap, so this one makes sense)

Still its kinda stunning the Eagles can afford all this, especially with they're monstrously over priced O-line and Asante Samuels already raking in money at corner.

Randy Moss is retiring, supposedly. Good. One down, more to go. T.O. is still a free agent, right?

So damn talented, so damn egotistical.... The guy worked wonders on the field, and caused havoc in the locker room and to coaches. If he wasn't such a hellraiser, he possibly would've beaten Jerry Rice on all accounts. I do wish that he was as good of a person as he was a player.

Heap signed with the Cardnials, pity, as I loved him playing for Baltimore he epitomized what it was like to be a Raven on the field while healthy, I wish him the best of luck in AZ, he belongs there, but I feel that Dickson and Pitta are more than capable replacements for the future. I hope that we, the Steelers, nor Patrick Willis destroys his fragile self, he was getting too hurt these past years. I wish you the best Todd HEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I am in love with this signing:http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/201...am-a-fullback/

I feel that Foster will drop on yards this season, while Ray Rice's increase, after all, we are playing the NFCW and AFCS (the very division that Foster destroyed in the first place).

I wonder if we choose to resign McClain at running back to replace McGahee or just let him go away, I don't mind either way myself, as his ego was massive, but he was a good player. We have several talented backups in Parmele and possibly Allen if he pans out.

Eagles continue to spend, spend, spend Ronnie Brown has agreed to terms with the eagles along with Ryan Harris. Apparently Kevin Kolb was making 50 million dollars last season...that or they are structuring these contracts in a way that will result in a Redskin-esk cap hell that will haunt them in two to three seasons.

We came into this offseason 31 million under cap... Kolb made 13 million last year (huge signing bonus) and was slated for ~8 this year, so it gave us nearly 40 mil in room to play... also getting rid of Bunkley to Denver and Weaver to Retirement (Season ending Injury last year) offered decent cap relief. As I said earlier in the thread, you notice alot of 1 year contracts with alot of these players, as the Eagles know that we have a number of big-name players coming off Rookie Contracts this year, and will be in a similar situation they're in with D.Jack atm but amplified.

Are you saying the Eagles came in 31 million under last seasons cap or the new much lower cap? Last seasons cap was 146 million, this seasons is 126.

Also you sure Kolb made 13 million last year? That doesn't seem right considering his contract extension only added one year (this year actually) and it was only for 12.25 million, his rookie contract would have had to have been heavily backloaded and his extension would have had to have been heavily front loaded. Consider Mike Vick alone is eating up at least that much on his Franchise tag (Average of top 5 quarterback salaries in the league puts it around 12-15 million) and its still a loss to play with. You are however right about the 1 year deals, Brown and Harris both signed that way (I was aware Harris signed for one year, but not Brown when I made the initial post)

Kolb was given a huge signing bonus last year because it was supposed to be his first year as the Eagles starting QB post-McNabb. I can try to find the info, but I know he made 8 figures between salary and bonus. Vick got 5.5 mil last year, which gives up a 7-9 mil increase.

I'm not going to pretend to know where every penny of this cap is coming from, to be honest I don't care. As an Eagles Season ticket holder and lifelong Birds fan, I can't help but love what we're doing atm... especially on the backend of what the Phillies have done this year to boot.

LeRon McClain just signed a one year deal with the KC Chiefs, trolololololol. He wanted to play as a running back in Baltimore, he sure as hell isn't going to be a running back in KC, not with Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles there. I love it, I'll take Vontae Leach over him any day of the week.
The Ravens are also rumored to be in the hunt for Malcom Floyd, I hope that he is a better player here than in SD, he even had Vincent Jackson across from him in SD, hope it pans out if he does come here, if only for another veteran WR this season.

The Eagles are going to run into some issues in the future with salaries, and I am not sure if they were that far under the cap in the first place...

More rumors surround Brett Favre. Now, it seems that the Dolphins might be interested in him. It seems like they're just fishing for stories now.

    ---------- Post added 2011-08-05 at 08:38 PM ----------

Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, and Shannon Sharpe lead the new wave of Hall of Famers.

Can't get much better than that.
