In need of a new Graphics Card!

    Hello there dear MMO-Champions!

I'm planning to buy a new graphics card soonish. But as I'm a complete idiot when it comes to "Does X work on computer Y" I'm in need of help from the masters.
I'm currently running with a nVidia GeForce 220GT which is crap afaik and it seems to be living it's last days. I get sudden freezes and low FPS occasionally when playing games like Fallout New Vegas, CoD MW2 and such. Even in WoW my FPS was better with my old computer.

I was thinking about a nVidia GeForce 250GTS but I'm unsure if it will work on my computer.
    http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/produ...ts_250_uk.html

My budget is around 100-180€ so any suggestions of a better piece instead of the 250GTS are welcome aswell.

Providing a dxDiag of the system and GFX if it helps.
And according to Acer it has a 300W power supply. (Power supply is what worries me the most)

Any help/advice/suggestion are very very welcome!

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah i dont think your PSU is enough for a GTS 250..
But you could get a HD 5670. It has DirectX 11 and should run any game without a problem. (Not Bad company 2 or Metro 2033 on max, but it will run WoW and MW2 on pretty much max settings. If you lag in 25 man raids its your processor)

Saw your from Finland so here: http://www.jimmspc.fi/tuote/H567Q1GD?t=false
Best HD 5670 you can get. 123 euros. But if you dont want to use that much then get the: http://www.jimmspc.fi/tuote/1A1-G000005536?t=false
    for 77 euros.

Even if you upgrade your graphics card you might not be able to play WoW on High due to only a 2.7ghz Dual core

The 220 is fine for WoW, your CPU is what's slowing down your game not that graphics card.

I see...thanks for the tip. Always thought the GFX was the problem. :/

    Tricky situation then!
The GFX is gonna die. Warranty's out, and the processor is crap.
Guess I'd better just let this one die out and buy a whole new computer when I can.
Mum needs a computer anyway. :P

Think xmas is going to be rough on me wallet this year.

Thanks for the help though, much appreciated!

edit: I just played MW2 campaing today and noticed that I wasn't having any FPS issues at all. I can notice the difference between 60+ and say 20- FPS clearly, but didn't notice any low fps at all.

How come a game like MW2 which graphics is so much better than WoW can run quite smoothly whereas WoW goes around 30-40 fps most of the time?

Because WoW is more CPU based, not GPU.

Meh, let us know when you come up with your new build (...wait, you ARE going to build your own PC right?)
As for MW2 vs WoW, WoW was originally intended at computers that didn't even have graphics cards. The game engine was based on Directx8 and makes the CPU do most of the work, fortunately over the years they have added in more and more support for graphics cards but WoW continues to remain CPU-bound for the most.
