Really want to OC my CPU but have no idea how to do that, and I'm scarred I screw up everything : P

Case: HAF-X (at first I thought it was ugly, but now I'm loving it <3)
GPU: AMD Sappire HD6990 (I want my nVidia card but have to stick with some amd shit)
CPU: i7 950 (want to OC this little ling really bad)
    Motherboard: Asus Saberthooth X58
    Memory: Corsair Dominator 12GB 3x 4GB kit
HDD: Seagate 500GB and Seagate 1 TB
    PSU: Corsair HX850

Cooling: I'm cooling this setup with water.
Got XSPC RX360 rad with 3x silent eagles and I have a Scythe Kaze Master pro to control them and to monitor the temp.
EK waterblocks for my CPU and GPU.
    XSPC X20 res/pump

Happy with the lower temps on my GPU now around 40c with air it was around 65c :F don't really know if the CPU temps are the same but guess the are a bit lower: idle around 30c, on load around 45:ish.

Altho, if I'm gonna OC my CPU I guess I need another rad to keep it nice and cool.

Your cpu definitely isn't sitting at 45 at load. There are many many guides out there for OCing Bloomfields. The 920 through 960 are all basically different bins of the same chip.

Basically, keep vcore under 1.4V (don't quote me), keep your RAM under rated speed while OCing, play with BCLK and the multiplier and test for 24 hours with something like Prime 95. Odd multipliers are said to work better than even. And for god's sake, get something to monitor your cpu temp.

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 advanced blue edition
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P
    CPU: Intel i5-2400 Sandy Bridge
    Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws 2 x 4GB
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro M600, Modular 600W
    GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 570
    Harddrive: Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB

    Keyboard: Razer Lycosa
Mouse: some old wireless logitech which will be getting an upgrade.

Pics to come after I build it, hopefully Wednesday.
Also, please, any thoughts or advice on the build are more then wanted.
Looks all nice, but I strongly recommend to upgrade to an i5 2500K.
The one you have now can't be overclocked, while you have a mobo that can.

And ye, pics!! Don't think I've ever seen a build with a blue HAF 932 before :P

He's got a custom loop with EK waterblocks and a 360mm rad + 3 fans. 45c at load is easily possible since his CPU is still at stock clocks.

I have basically exactly the same setup and I'm sitting around 60C on stock clocks. You might be able to get down to about 45C if you turned off HT and had really low ambient..

I forgot to add my cooler to the list, but I do already have a cooling unit, getting a 3.6 OC without having the temperatures run up too high. But yeah, I suppose you are right. That's almost an entirely new computer though, so that'll have a pricetag..

bummer, i had my entire post ready and then realised i cannot post links, and that was the only way to show you my rig I will come back to this forum and post my rig when i can post links.

But to remain somewhat on topic, in a computer section with a ton of people posting their comps and rigs, can anyone suggest a nice SSD that they are using in their rig, that is nice strong fast and affordable? Somewhere around the 150 - 200$ range, would be great

I will be back, another time. To post my rig. So sorry >.<
