Currently playing: WoW, D3, SC2, and wait for it ... Red Alert 3. (And possibly some Goldeneye here or there.)
Mad scientist? It's so orderly I don't see any madness in it.
Basically yes, Afrospinach. Acrylic bends when heated up. To keep its shape you usually insert a silicone snake or wiggly thing or whatever to call it, heat it up and just bend it. There are additional tools to make it easier, but most of them are just existing molds for certain angles of bends.
Alright I get it. That wiggly thing I know as a mandrel which is why I was asking question. When you bend tubes they squash of course and thingywhatsits tubes look 100% amazing and I was sure the don't make them all fit so perfectly off the shelf. After my failed AIO cooler install in my CM120 elite I am thinking of just going for a WC component setup. Oh, my damned 970 has developed irritating as hell coil whine too, fuel for the fire.
IMHO it's actually fairly easy to do and of all the shit they advertise you'd need I'd say is the Heat Gun and the Silicone you insert into the Acrylic Tube while doing the heating/bending.
The first bend you'll probably singe because of too much heat so start with something that is hidden behind a panel and as you get more accustomed to it work yourself towards the more visible bends.
For me, it basically looked like this:
- Make a Cardboard Guide with the necessary angle(s) and radius for the particular bend.
- Insert Silicone into Acrylic Tube.
- Warm the Tube using a Heat Gun - I used 350°C on the EKWB Tubes.
- Make the bend using the prepared Cardboard Guide.
- Remove Silicone and cut Tube to length - I marked the cut using a Masking Tape and cut along it with a Dremel using a Dremel 409 Cut-off Wheels .025" thick.
- Rough cleaning of the ends using the Dremel and a Dremel 932 Aluminium Oxide Grinding Stone.
- Finishing the Ends using 600 Sanding Paper - First making the End planar, then beveling the outer edge.
- Test Fit the Tube - If it works do the rain dance, if not flip the table ( and do corrections where possible ).
It's obviously a lot more time consuming than just installing a Fitting, cutting a Hose to length and attaching it on both ends but I'd say the difference in looks speaks for itself =)
Interestingly enough... When switching from the ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition to the ASUS Rampage 5 Extreme I only had to redo the Tubes that connect to and between the GPU Blocks - Everything else was the same so I was spared of redoing the Tubes coming from the Radiator to the MOSFET, MOSFET to CPU, CPU to NB.

Pro: I bought a NZXT S340 red/black. It's all black matte and gorgeous, with red accents. Incidentally, the PCI brackets that were originally those unusable "pop out" ones have apparently been replaced with reusable ones now. Doesn't really matter, but I guess that's nice.
Con: Camera battery too low to transfer pictures from camera. Currently recharging said battery.
