    Minor update:

Saw a killer deal on Tiger Direct versus Newegg for the Asus Xonar DX 7.1 PCIe sound card and since I've had this $30 TD gift card lying around since July, I went ahead and snapped it up. With the $20 rebate too and I guess another $10 rebate incoming from some other company attached to TD, I'll ultimately only be paying $36-46 out of my wallet for the sound card.

That is such a good deal, can't wait to get this thing!

Looks like I need to order a whopping 25 or so meters of cable sleeving to fully do the 24pin, 8pin and 8+6pin connectors of my powersupply. That's... quite impressive. Thoughts on colors?

I was thinking that with the 24pin I need to color the "safe" one (ie green) cable with, well, a green sleeve, but I'm not sure I'll care to do the same to the black ones (except black on these).

With the 8pin I'll be doing it two-tone (since it's one of those "split" 8pins, so each part gets its own color), and with the pci connectors (6+2 ones) I'm thinking of taking the ones on the "main" bit in one and the two extra in the alternate color.

Just get colours that match the rest of your rig, lets say you have a black/red/white theme, you can do a bit of every colors in the sleeving. I love how those look, they make it different from people who buy extensions. I also plan on sleeving my power supply soon

Thing is, my rig doesn't have a lot of color. I'm honestly plain in a position to pick most colors. I intend to reserve the black color as the main "alternate" one, but I want the water-tubing, sleeving, LEDs, cathodes, etc to add a final color.

My rig currently doesn't have a single color worth a damn mention imo. At best there's the gold/yellow one of the Zotac logo and the AX850 tag, but outside of that the only color are accessories. :P And the case I'll be picking up soon for the rig has a blue power-LED on the front. That's really it though.

Here's a budget secondary build I put together to use at my desk when I'm not on my notebook.

Take note of my awesome cable management! (I've since cleaned up the random white power wire for the cold cathode, and routed my 4 pin CPU line a bit better)

I don't actually game on this table, it's just where I built it. Never noticed how bad my cats scratched it up until I looked at these shots!

    NZXT M59 case
    Intel G620
    AMD HD 6750
    BIOSTAR mATX random 1155 mobo
    8GB G.Skill DDR3 1333 Ripjaws
Refurbished 450GB 10k Velociraptor that I paid $45 for at microcenter
OCZ ModXtreme Pro 600w modular PSU
    Random ASUS 24x DVD burner
    Logisys cold cathodes
3x Kingwin 120mm LED fans, 2x NZXT 120mm fans provided with case

    Total: $430

Which one would that be? :>

Maybe you should keep it simple and go yellow/ black, then. Would look darn nice if you could find some yellow hose. Or alternatively, add some blue with UV blue dye and only use yellow/black on the sleeving.

At least those one's aren't as obnoxious as the OCZ ones. Either way I don't understand the point of these contentious SSD superiority complex club membership stickers. Actually, you can go to an audiologist to get a lot of them custom fit to your ears.

    I'd rather get monitors.

Especially if I am stationary. Earbuds make no sense to me unless you're leaving the house, and then, I don't see the sense of paying that much money for something that could get damaged. :s

Some people prefer quality everywhere they go :P
I bought a pair of cheap Sennheiser in-ears (50€) and they're still alive after 4 years :P Not really an audiophile so these are perfect for me, though I can understand certain people wanting high quality earbuds.

So, finally managed to snap some photos from my computer.
Most of the components and peripherals are about 1.5 - 2 years old

    The setup:

    Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW
    Keyboard: Cherry G83
    Mouse: Logitech G9x
    Mousepad: Roccat Taito
Sound system: Technics HD50 (oldest part of this setup, ~16 years)

    The actual computer:

    Case: Lian Li PC-7FN

    The interior:

    Mainboard: Asus P7P55D
    CPU: Intel i5-750
    Cooler: Scythe SamuraiZZ
    RAM: 2x2GB Kingston DDR3-1333 + 2x4GB SiliconPower DDR3-1333
    GPU: MSI Hawk HD5770
    SSD: OCZ Vertex2 120GB
HDD: 2x2TB Samsung F4 eco green (Raid 1) + 1TB WD Caviar green
    DVD: LG GH22NS
    PSU: Seasonic S12-520

I know, the cable management isn't the best, but it's as good is gonna get it in this situation:
    - no opening above board for ATX 8pin to go around the back
    - non modular psu
But the cables are in a place where they don't hinder airflow, and i don't have a window so it's fine.
Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?

Wow, it's good to be back on the main rig. Holy crap I've never noticed how loud the other one is (despite the Define case) when compared to this thing.
