Erm, I don't think it works like that. I don't think the math works like Ghazh is saying either though.

If you overclock a BCLK from 100 to 110 and your multiplier is 44, instead of 4.4 you're at... 4.84

You can regard them as separate, multiplicative, multipliers.
One is 44, one is 10 in your specific scenario.

If you boost the multiplier to 113 from 100, the end result will be 13% higher, no matter the multiplier - assuming you could attain the same one. In modern locked multipliers, that's a given.
This is how overclocking worked in the past and for AMD now, min/maxing BCLK and multi.

I was cringing the entire time watching Linus go on about how awesome his Xeon OC is. I mean, for a workstation it doesn't make sense. That 13% BCLK overclock isn't going to mean much when it eventually becomes unstable and leads to typical BCLK data corruption, losing hours and hours of work along with your Windows installation.

    assuming a 113 BCLK:
    113*44=4972

    4400
    4972 = 1.13 or +13%

Well the Xeon E5-2697 has base clock of 2700MHz which turbo's up to 3500MHz which basically means one core only. Linus overclocked all cores up to about 3400Mhz which is around 25% (3400/2700=1.259..). This was achieved by 113 BCLK and 27 ratio which puts it up to 3050MHz but since he also left the turbo on it turbos up to around 3400MHz with load on all cores. So 13% increase to BCLK but 25% overclock with turbo enabled.

And yeah probably not the most beneficial thing to do for a Xeon but I took it more as a "because I can and like to fiddle around with things" and not "because I need to" type of deal.

Asus x79 boards (when you change AI tuner from auto to manual/xmp) force the max turbo clock across all cores. You can read it here: http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/5385...-cinebench-115

Not sure if this would work on xeons but my rive is doing that with my 3930K.

... and here I thought 1-2 mice and keyboards was enough

    Corsair M90
Microsoft Sidewinder x4 (Membrane, cheap, quite alright.)

Some crappy stuff for backup if all else fails.

Had to return my mechanical keyboard as it was simply too loud, waking up people lol!

Nice. Which CPU did you get? I can't seem to read it off the box you've got there.

moved my system from the FT02 to the RV05

a few things on the RV05, its both cheap and amazing at the same time, if you have an FT02 or similar quality case, the RV05 will strike you immediately as cheap, and it is, at $100 less that FT02, they saved money somewhere, and its in the refinement and material quality, it's plastic and steel instead of aluminum and steel, also the side panels suck, and have quite possibly the worst latch system i have ever seen, also, it does not come with any sound dampening material and the back panel still sucks for wire tucking

that being said, i went for a wire tucked air cooled setup, it took me several hours and was on par with building a very tight ITX system in terms of complexity and difficulty, if you don't care about wire tucking and use a H110 or something you can put a system in this in about 10 minutes, but if you want it clean its not an easy build, there are many tight spots, and the clearance between the motherboard and the PSU made it impossible to connect the supplemental PCIe power, although this is only really a problem on EVGA boards or anything else with a right angle connector, i could solder it vertical but im too lazy for that

one thing i kept running into was that obviously silverstone engineers built tons of these in R&D, every time i went to go and do something that might be a pain, ie reaching some screws straight on, silverstone had already provided access tunnels and holes, this case screams of being designed by a practical system builder rather than a engineer doing cad work without actually using the product they design (except for the side panels, they guy in charge of them was a dumbass)

    Sound dampening put in:

bit of a vanity thing, i can only run 2 ram dimms due to clearance with the cpu heatsink, so i gave them new heatsinks:

    very tight clearance:

    finished:
