80-85 levelling - Which healing spec for instances?

    Hey guys,

I'm planning on healing a few instances on the way to 85, but only have room for one healing spec (questing as shadow ofcourse ). Wondered if anybody with experience of healing BRC or similar could recommend either disc or holy?

    Thanks

Have you ever played either healing spec before?

Yeah of course, raided with both specs during wotlk. Been messing around in heroics getting used to the changes since the patch. I know how to play them, I just dont know which performs better past 80

If you have low Mastery then Disc does not fair entirely well, but with the buffs to Heal/FH/GH you won't suffer too much. Do not expect to Smite heal in dungeons if you're Discipline though. It doesn't cut it, especially now that Heal has higher HPS and HPM than Smite+Atonement.

My experience with the dungeons in Beta was before all the Priest buffs. At that time Discipline was complete and utter trash, but they've been buffed something like six times since that point. That said, Holy was able to heal them before those buffs and has been buffed just as much. I'd say play what you're more comfortable playing.

Honestly, there is no right and wrong in this question. Both will get the job done, they will only do it in different ways. Simply play as the healing spec you want to be. That will be which is easiest for your leveling experience.

Pick whichever you like more and get going, both ought to be viable speccs. Don't think there's much of a difference, as long as you're decently skilled with either.

Edit: Fenix was a faster, damn^^

either spec will perform quite adequately, so you should choose the spec that you like better.

i think of holy as the ultimate toolbox spec, while disc seems more of a preheal and cd spec.

The week before beta closed we ran quite a few dungeons to prep for leveling and in a toc geared priest(picking up items along the way) the smite spec seemed to work very well doing just enough healing with a ret paladin in group and returning mana efficiently. All other members of the group were extremely well geared and so it could be a bit weaker on say a tank needing a bit more gear or your damage dealers not being in BIS. I expect it to be even easier when I'm testing on my main priest but it really comes down to how much you have to cast to top off your group to how much you get to smite. Adding a ret paladin to your leveling group brings a nice cushion to either spec. Holy has a nice burst for instances like Stonecore where melee can get hit relatively hard by the first two bosses and all add packs leading up to this. BRC proves to be fairly friendly to either spec and you shouldn't find it overly challenging. Lost City was unfriendly to both specs and required a lot more down time but that's just the nature of the mobs and I didn't expect every instance to be a walk in the park.
