Momento and Prestige for sure my 1 and 2.
It's not a problem if you don't look up.

I've tried to watch it a time or two and idk...I wind up falling asleep I guess? I'll have to give it another try as it's one of few Nolan films I've never seen.

It's insanely non-linear, almost to a fault. You really can't watch Memento while playing a game on your phone, half checked in. Every scene builds on the last and the crescendo where everything comes together is one of the best "aha!" moments in film. It's not without flaws as it sorta suffers from the same problem as Tenet where some scenes are so unrealistic it takes you out of the movie, but it's still a great way to spend a few hours. It's always cool to see where a talented auteur gets their start and there's a lot of DNA for other Nolan films that you can pick up in Memento. Plus, if nothing else, it's the best acting Guy Pearce ever did. He's a criminally underrated actor and his work here is nothing short of legendary.

Karate Kid Legends (2025), the new Jackie Chan movie.

7 out of 10, I guess, it was okay, but not exactly spectacular, and they rehash/repeat many of the same plotlines. I actually liked the 2010 Jaden Smith one a bit better, at least the setting was interesting and new.
"The beauty of America was that it insisted that there are whole realms of human life located outside the province of politics, like friendships, art, music, family and love. And those are the most important parts of life. And anyone that says otherwise is forgetting what it means to be American and really a human being. Being a founder means resisting nihilism. [It]...doesn’t mean killing what you hate, it means saving what you love."

Gaspar Noe's first movie Seul contre tous (I stand Alone) is for me his best and often overlooked as it still hasn't had a good release on DVD or Blu-ray, all the existing versions (and I have a few) are poor quality even considering the source material. Well worth checking out even one of the current versions if you've never seen it.

But for depressing movies I'd go with Daisy Diamond with Noomi Rapace , it's right up there with Requiem for a Dream.

Saw no country for old man last night, 7/10.

People hyped so much this that maybe i was expecting something else, and ended up disappointed with some stuff that happened in the second half of it, nonetheless, a fun movie

    Talk to Me (2022) Rating:7/10

Decent horror flick. Nothing too unpredictable tho, but it was well done.

a recommendation/personal opinion: you need to go into this with the right mindset.

memento is not a "crowd pleaser" film in any way, it's got way more in common with the lighthouse than it does with the prestige.
it's one of those films where overall you could say it's a meditation on an aspect of the human condition couched in the medium of film more than it's... a movie to sit down and watch for funsies.

if you're going to watch it, do it when you're in a headspace for something somber and a little sad but very poignant.
it's a movie about loss, and grief, and how that shapes and defines who you are, and how you move past it, and it's also about perception of reality and subjectivity.
it explores ideas and themes about consciousness and the human condition that are exceptionally rare to see examples of in film, and that's really cool if you're into that sort of shit, but it's pretty dry and not at all exciting as a movie in that sense.

anyways i say all this because i can totally see how someone would put this on and go "huh this is boring" and kind of zone out if they're watching it expecting a bombastic latter-career nolan movie, but i think the film is amazing if you watch it with the right expectations.

    Heretic - 7/10

Great casting and acting all round. Hugh Grant was fantastic. Got a little too wacky in the second half but enjoyable throughout.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter - 2/10

Awful. Bad accents, utterly unconvincing, directed like some daytime TV trash. Gets 1 extra point because the daylight burnings were cool.

It was my introduction to Nolan, then the Prestige and Inception, I think it was, that solidified him as a great "twist" maker. Something I miss these days with his more mainstream films.
If you got bored watching Memento, then it just isn't for you I would say. I have the attention of a fruit-fly and I loved Memento with its bite-sized segments.
    Anyways, apologies for derailing.

    Dangerous Animals 6/10

Mindless popcorn flick that really doesn't do anything new. I could think of worse ways to spend a Tuesday afternoon.

    time to post here again.

    Ballerina.

Hard to say....for a action movie solid 9 out of 10.

Ana de armas is also a win, same goes mr reeves.

    Story...7 out of 10.

Would say to people if you liked any of the other wick movies...go to it.
If for some odd reason you have not seen anyone of them.

I would rate it in my rating system : fun in cinema, i hope they make more. but not mandatory

My rating system ( best to worse):
    - fun in cinema, even if you go alone. multiple watches is even better. need more of it.
    - fun in cinema, i hope they make more. but not mandatory
    - fun in cinema. but once, or 1 movie off this one is enough.
    - fun on tv, but a waste of money in cinema
    - its kinda like a other movie but less good, if nothing else is on.
    - it ruins the previous movies like this ( insert brand, franchise, original version etc). you feel wasting your time, even if its free on tv.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina: 7.5/10 Standard revenge plot bolstered by solid action sequences. I don't know what all they had to reshoot because of Len Wiseman, but it worked. De Armas does well. It was nice seeing her struggle to beat her opponents, and she didn't always come out on top. It was also nice not to see bulletproof clothing everywhere. Not sure if I'd rather see a sequel(s) with her character, or more side stories with different characters. Worth at least a matinee. RIP Lance Reddick.

Yeah. I'm one of those who...if I don't like or can't get into something, I just move onto something else that I can. I don't have to get upset that I don't like something and it wasn't made for me. I've experienced plenty of material that "explores the human condition" and, of course, some I enjoyed and some I didn't.

    Predator Killer of Killers 6/10

First 2 segments started off strong. From the 3rd segment it got a little too over the top in parts for me to stay invested.
Animation is solid thru everything. Ending Easter egg just felt kind of unnecessary. Now, I know this isn’t set in stone, but the Easter egg, and whole premise, makes me think this entirely retcons Predator and Predator 2. I guess maybe they could have always gone back for Dutch and Harrigan, but the fact that it’s eluded to in the 2nd movie that Dutch is debriefed from the original events, and that Harrigan was allowed to run off the ship after killing one, doesn’t go with what this movie shows. I don’t know, I guess we could say a different tribe or something, but it just kind of takes me out of the premise.
Overall though, it wasn’t bad. Just not great, either.

Don't ever try watching Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain, then.

John wick 1 : 9 out of 10 on all
    John wick 2 : action 8 out of 10, story 5 out of 10
John wick 3: action mostly 9 out of 10 ( last few fights make it better), story 8 out of 10
    John wick 4 : fights 9 out 10, story again a weaker one...say 7 out of 10.

But like i said. I do more in: go watch now several times in cinema, wait until its on streaming, waste of money in cinema etc. find the 1 to 10 scale...bad.
A movie can be great to watch , even though its not a good movie.

For me 1,3 and 4 are go watch in cinema at least once.
2 was a wait until streaming movie.
