Rise of the Guardians - 8/10.
I actually enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I was going to. The art direction was really amazing and it's one of the better looking movies I've seen. Great quality animation. The characters were all really enjoyable, and though there were some cheesy moments, for the most part it didn't feel like another dumb kids' movie. It felt more than worth my time. I kind of wish I had seen it in 3D because of how nice it looked, so I might go back!

The remake? Ick. Was terrible, same lousy plot but without Ahnuld or Mars in it, stillborn character development, and even the action sequences were a little silly. Especially with the whole MUST KILL DENNIS QUAID thing, Beckinsale's character went way past anything that could be seen as reasonable.

Paranormal Activity 3, 7/10. Must've been a new addition to Netflix because I don't remember seeing it before. Looks like the odd entries in the PA series are the good ones. The demon was much more malicious and present in this flick compared to #2 and #4. #3 seems to be the worst in the "we have to make up as many stupid excuses to have characters carry a camera around at all times," than any other entry in the series, though. Especially since it's set in the late 80's and the cameras they're using aren't little handicams, but giant 20-pound monsters with 6-hour tape lives.

    The Dark Knight Rises.
Honestly I'm going to give it 10/10 mostly because I'm a sucker for super hero movies. I've yet to see one I didn't like, don't think it's even possible! And this was a great movie.

I was a little disappointed with the ending implying JGL is going to become either Batman or Nightwing, but he's yet to even be Robin. There are rumours he will be in the Justice League movie as batman. Which doesn't make sense. I believe in the comics he did pretend to be batman for a while, after he became Night Wing, but he's supposed to be Robin first, then Night Wing. Not jump straight into being batman

Anyway, besides that whole thing, loved the movie.

    The remake yes.

I liked it. No, I didn't watched the original one. Tbh, I was told not to because the remake would feel like shit. I have no idea why, but I'm not really interested in watching the original one.

I honestly fail to see why the remake is bad. Story is fairly simple and good, acting is nice, overall it's good.

It breaks suspension of disbelief entirely too often for me to take it seriously or even really enjoy it. Also, what the hell is it with movies, Brits, and fascism? Like, if there's gonna be a fascist government in a dystopian future... it's always the Brits.

"For Colored Girls" 10/10, amazing yet not recommended for the 18-25 white males who frequent mmo champ unless you have the maturity level to handle film content that is the antithesis of your demographic.

Hmm. So...you call a group of people not mature, yet you label a large group of people. That makes sense.

Watched Die Hard 1 the other day. Excellent film, made me laugh at the bromance between the cop and Willis' character. Also, that inadvertent close-up on the gas prices sign. Something like 80 cents a gallon... Anyway, nothing bad to say, great film, 9/10.

I didn't say everyone...but let's not pretend that everyone here is a bastion of maturity.

That's rather specific. It's a ridiculously judgmental statement to make; it'd be the same as if I were to say something like: "This movie was fantastic, but not recommended to the women who frequent mmo-champion unless you're not a whore."

Just as yours is. It's absolutely ridiculous to assume that because I'm white and in the age group of 18-25 that I'm immediately going to be racist and that I can't enjoy a movie. If you want to make such judgements, go ahead. I prefer to keep an open mind.

The last 20 minutes were decent but thats that,

I can understand how you enjoyed it if it was your first bond filmed, but once you watch the entire set, It just doesn't have the bond feel to it, I find it lacking a lot compared to orginals, even die another day or the world is not enough

    Twilight breaking dawn part 2

    9/10

The only thing that let it down was the twist at the ending, then again if thats the way the book goes, can't argue with it really,
    I'll bite.

Skyfall was brilliant, not quite as good as Casino (in the Craig line) or Goldfinger (in the Connery line), but it's a really solid film, great action, fantastic character development and a great storyline that shifts gears several times throughout the film (changing pace and location, no spoilers).

Twilight fails across the board. From character development and story progression to acting and directing. I often wonder whether it's entirely Meyer's fault for writing complete crap and being a hack, or whether they're going out of their way to make it bad.
The story is baffling and the action scene is just wonderful schlock.

But that's just an opinion I guess.

    Last film seen: Looper, 6.5/10.
Decent, kept me interested, but the ending really let it down, and it feels like a film a college student would have brainstormed while he was high. (Kind of like the Justin Timberlake film In Time, or Time out in french).

Some parts of the movie really annoyed me. Like not killing someone when you have the chance, letting them escape. Or the gigantic hollywood-style explosion at the end. It's just breaking the immersion for me, instead of realistic it's stupid

Stay Tuned. Found it on HBOGo this weekend. One of my all time favorite early 90s movies. Solid 7/10

    Skyfall

    10/10

And well, I am a big James Bond fan. I watched most of the movies, from Sean Connery to Pierce Brosnan. And I love them! But each one of them lacked on simple thing: the character, tho totally badass, was not that much interesting. They tried to change it with Daniel Craig (who was requested by the widow of Ian Fleming, since she perceived other Bond actors "unrealistically young"), but they finally grasped it in this movie.

Craig is just... perfect here. He plays a bond character that was in every movie - a badass top secret agent, who knows how to use everything he can reach, and who can safely say that can have sex with 50% of population - the other 50% is male. But meanwhile, this agent starts to feel like a real person meanwhile. The first like, 20 minutes were groundbreaking. I understood the character in those minutes more then in tens of previous Bond movies, and I sympathised with him. This is also the first time when the tie between him and the agency break. In previous movies the agency was Bond, it was the same thing. In Skyfall we can see that they are separate beings, that Bond is just a man working for them.

Other than that? All the action sequences are incredible. The last minutes of the movie, with the "Villa siege" stuff, were breathtaking. "M" for the first time had a character, and she really left the viewer a lot to think about. And the villian. Oh God, Silva. The best Bond villian ever. He is, just as Craig, very realistic person, so we can sympathise with him (and I really did), but he can be over the top in some moments, just like a Bond bad guy should. And he is just badass. Everything he did was insanely precise, and he really gave Bond a push to do his best. Bond fought a single man here, not an idea, not a force, not an army, what he had to do in many previous films. Honestly, Raoul Silva is the best Bond villian ever. Aha, just so I don't forget - the opening song, combined with animation, was the 2nd best in any Bond movie (my favourite remains the Casino Royale opening, from the old Bonds I'd go with "Diamonds are forever").

So, best Bond movie from the "Craig saga" and one of the best in the whole thing. Strongly reccomend to anyone.

I remember you from that other thread :P You really like picking fights, don't you?

Saw "Casa de mi Padre" on Netflix--9/10, better than most of Will Ferrell's work. If you are familiar with Mexican telenovelas there are a lot of asides and inside jokes regarding the genre, but it's not a requirement in order to enjoy the film. Also Ferrell's spanish is better than expected.
