We need a Lore Section.
We need a Lore Section.
It's not infectious, but it is technopathological.

"I see nothing. I hear nothing. I taste victory."
"Trolling (verb): speaking your honest opinion." - you know who
We have one.
It's called [General Discussions]
Your free to make lore threads there.. We don't have a "NO LORE" rule. It actually pains me to see the lack of lore threads because apparently people are waiting for a specific forum for it? makes no sense.
It's not infectious, but it is technopathological.
If you're afraid of this now, why wouldn't you be afraid of it in a dedicated lore section? The same trolls and flamers will go through provoking things there. If people start flaming, that's what the mods are there for. Report the bad posts, and we'll take care of them.
Right now, there isn't enough lore discussion to justify a whole forum; the few threads in general discussion seem to do the job.
You can rest assured that the lore trolls will be banned pretty damn swiftly.
sounds good
There is a lore section on the official WoW forums that they just added only a couple months ago, and it turned out to be one of the most productive forums on the wow website.
Show us that there's enough activity to justify having one, and we'll consider it.
I don't necessarily agree. If there is a dedicated lore section, trolls would refrain from posting things like who givez a craps about LORE lolnoobs get a life instead of reading quest descriptions!. Just like RP-haters (usually) stay away from RP forums, and there are a LOT of RP-haters.
RP haters also stay away from the RP section because those threads are not listed on the front page recent posts box. It also means the forum is much, much quieter, since many people simply refresh the recent posts. I'm not sure it makes sense to do the same thing for a lore forum, when we really do want traffic there.
I think you're right that there would be a few less random people jumping in (those who sit and refresh general discussions instead of the front page), but there would most definitely still be people trying to troll.
Beyond that, my other point still holds -- there's not really enough lore discussion to warrant a whole forum about it right now.
