We don't know which sibling is a boy which means both BG and GB are valid. That was the point of this riddle.

The thing is, we can't know the probability of the second child being a boy or a girl from that alone. Just because we have assessed that there are two options doesn't mean that they are equally likely. Simply due to population trends, it is slightly more likely that the other child is a girl. Not much though, something like 52% preference.
There are significantly more newborn boys than girls, but men die at a younger age than women. In France, for example, there are 107 boys born for every 100 girls.

U.N. estimates vary between 101-100 and 103-100 of men outnumbering women in the world.

2. I love the idea of a Riddle thread, but lets keep them all to one topic to avoid spamming up the forums. Thanks

Thats irrelevant. Whichever one we are talking about, thats the one we have to stick with when considering the options. I pointed out what you would do if it was the first one *or* the second one, and it turns out the same. You are simply completely wrong with the probability here.

Then it could flip from one to the other depending on the age of the children.

exactly 1/3 of a chance is illogical when its a 50/50 chance
