This picture is from either 2004 or 2005. Our dog died recently and it's the first time in my life that I haven't had any pets. Most of our pictures of him are with my parents, but I noticed that I had this one on a hard drive.

I'm back home from Florida after 2 weeks. AND MARMALADE IS ALIVE. He was a bit slow but he was moving. I fed him and changed his water and he seems energized.

Best pet owner ever.

I want to get a dog, but puppies from breeders are so expensive and the adoption agencies/shelters are pack full of chihuahuas, pits, pit mixes, and unknown mixes where you don't know what you'll get adopting the dog. I'm not really interested in chihuahuas, anything pit-related. And since I don't have a lot of experience with dogs I'd like to know the traits I'm getting.

My husband found our puppy from a Facebook page. It was a page for breeders and others in our area to post puppies for sale for reasonable prices. Buddy cost $150. He’s a mutt (Texas Heeler/Border Collie), but I’ve seen purebreds get posted for less than $300 (Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Labs, etc).

Do your research on a breed that suits your lifestyle and maybe check FB pages in your area. The one he looked at is called Pets for Sale, Adoption and Rescue in Kansas.

I've been looking for Siberian Huskies and Irish Wolfhounds. Huskies, the cheapest I found from breeders around here is $1500. I'll try FB out, thanks for the tip!
