    Female!

Perhaps you should make a poll, might be easier to see if you're looking at demographics.

Male, not that I think it counts for anything.

I'm pretty interested in the results though, as I've noticed most of my in-game friends are female. Kind of been wondering what the ratio is.

I read a study awhile ago claiming that for online gaming, girls are actually in the majority. I believe they claimed just below 60%.
I do believe this however includes "online" games like farmville etc.
From the guilds i've been in, there have only been around 2-3 girls for every 20 boys. So if that's any indication then its a lot lower for wow, however considering the small sample size, i wouldn't presume to know.

That would certainly skew results, especially combined with dudes pretending to be chicks.

Ironic as it may seem with my account name, I'm male.
Blame the fact that my main is a female Tauren Shaman with the same name...

This is due largely to the influence of the casual gaming market, which composes a very large majority of the overall gaming market (I forget the exact figures). The largest base of casual gamers are middle to late-aged women (again, I forget the exact figures, terrible I know). The 60% of gaming consumers being women sounds a tad too low, from what I read it was 65-70%, solely because of the huge amount of casual gamers.

Male. Noticed I´ve known quite a few females in-game when I think about it.

Yeah I hated being outnumbered by "boys" ..."OMG wowz guyz a girlz in vent! Talk again!!" ...After a very long time I found a guild ran by a very nice chick and her girlfriend..along with her sister and their brother. At one point females were the majority I think. Now its about 40/60 women to men. Yes, Men...no boys allowed
