Banking in Wow.. No really legit banking.

Was thinking. It would be interesting if there were more cool things you could do with gold.. Invest in goblin banks maybe turn a decent profit? Or possibly investment funds with penalty on cashing out early.. etc.. ... I honestly havent given it a ton if thought but wondered if anyone else had any cool ideas for new uses for gold.

Things not to mention:
Buying things like mounts and gear
Selling it to gold sellers
playing the auction house
etc..
We all already know those exist.

Ummm... But that's all gold is used for, +repairs and raid preparation. What else would you want to do with it? Banking you mentioned is simply multiplying the gold you already have, but in a much less enjoyable for than playing the AH. Gold is pretty much used only on two things: Goldsinks and making more gold.

You can already "invest" by playing the AH. Its not very fun though. Gold is already too easy to get and I don't see the appeal of adding the thrill of investment banking. Adding a "use" for gold which just nets more gold doesn't really make sense.

We do need a lot more gold sinks since its just silly how easy it is to get and how inflated the economy is since cataclysm.

Buying outrageously pricy rare items is a goldsink, buying materials for crafting/epics is part of raid preparation - and the raid preparations of all kinds are nothing but goldsinks. :P

I wouldn't mind seeing a WoW stock market. Have to pay commissions to buy and sell stock, maybe have prices determined by a little bit of rng, and maybe some of like the types of items on the AH, etc.

Thanks for restating what I asked.. The point is if anyone has any knew ideas to play with the economy of wow. Things to do with gold other than play the AH.

Maybe donating to city funds to repair broken structures etc..

Maybe having some way to pit money together as a guild and buy guild branded sieges.. who knows

Only thing basically you could do is to run something similar to a trust fund, however it still just revolves around one dedicated AH player turning around huge sums of gold and then paying a share of the profits (very vaguely), but then again, those people juggling the AH don't exactly need any outside funding anyway.

Gold has low value since the supply is infinite (unlike real world, where money value is high due to the mostly same amount of money in circulation). And at the end of the day, the only investment banking you can play will just net you more gold which you have nothing to spend it on. Say you buy all the mounts, perks and vanities there are, you spend like what, 100k approx at most, the rest is dead weight. Not like real world where you'd go buy a yacht and chill somewhere in the mediteranean.
Some of the other things mentioned involve virtual currency 2 real world money transactions, which are bannable and frowned upon, and mostly out of the question.

It would be too difficult to implement but I think it would be cool if they added a loan type system. For example you want to buy a traveling tundra mammoth so you go to the bank and pull out a loan with the agreement that you will be 1000g a week back to the bank. Every tuesday you get a bill in the mailbox and like CoD you press accept and pay your 1k gold. If you fail to pay off the bill in lets say 48 hours you are no longer able to use your traveling tundra mammoth until you start making payments again (mind you interest builds up on the loan whether you pay or not).

Thats just an example and would never truly work in the game but would be a cool idea.

I also think a casino would be a good idea to add to the game.
