PvP/PvE iLvl Question

One of my guildies is trying to get his gear to the heroic (5 man) minimum iLvl and equipped a peice of PvP gear that was about 30-40 points higher than the peice it was replacing. His average iLvl didn't change. I was wondering if PvP gear counted towards the average?

Some of it does, I know that bracers/gloves do. But I know that the trinket definitely does not. And afaik it doesnt count towards your ilvl on armory although it will say your ilvl in brackets next to it. E.g my mage is using pvp cloak/bracers and it says 345 ilvl (349 equipped).

Every pvp piece counts towards your item level. It just doesn't have to be an equipped item, if it was in his bags, it was already counting.

There is a difference between your iLvl and equiped iLvl.
Your normal iLvl counts all gear in your bags too
