    Shadow Priest Trinket list

    This is something I've been working on and so far has only been on our guild website. So now I figure it's time to share my numbers with the MMO Community Shadow Priests. Feel free to comment and ask questions. Thanks for looking!

    Some of you may look at this and be like wtf!? What the hell is PP??? Normalized, Intellect is our Best stat therefor has been given a stat value of 1.0. So other stats are given a Per Point value of Intellect.

    State Value as of 4.0.3a:

    Haste 0.5031

    4.0.6 Mastery Buff - Shadow Orbs benefit from mastery has been increased by approximately 16%
    So giving this a 16% value increase this is what we see for Mastery Values

    increase of 0.061712
    4.0.6 0.447412 (Mastery Value of 0.45)

    I'm probably not doing the Mastery math right, but I guess it is possible.

    Great list based on some solid facts and logic. Certain trinkets will switch positions depending on the length of the fight, but since fight length isn't always predictable you kind of have to pick a position and run with it. That is why people have seen multiple Best in Slot trinket lists on various forums. However, this gives people a pretty good idea of what to go for. Kudos for your hard work.

    Your logic on the new stat weights is flawed, you can't just add 16% to the old weight... the weights are a relational measure of how each relate to Int, the fact mastery is being buffed means the stat weight will change by stats all dynamically work together in different ways at different levels. What needs to occur is for simcraft to update the changes and parses to be run that determine new stat weights, any other sort of napkin type math to work out stat weights based on patch notes are not going to be anywhere accurate.

    The other bad thing you've done is used stat weights based on BiS 372 gear... something you don't have nor does 99.99% of the people on these forums. What's more relevant is how the stats behave with 359 gear, and if you look at simcraft results for that you'll notice Int > Haste > hit = crit > mastery. There is no way hit is as poor as you make out.

    Rather than making claims, why not post the proof? You've got balls to bash on 3 hours of work without proof.

    I will also add that these values are determined on a player that is at the 17% Hit cap.

    One value about your calculations is wrong. Spirt/hit is assumed you reforge out of in all situations so the value is always 60% * 0.3 (which is the "value" of hit before hit cap) for a "needed for hit calculation and a second calculation of 0 for the spirit/hit is put in for each piece with spirit or hit on it. Items with hit (and now spirit too) have always had 2 values and the ranking value always goes off assuming you aren't using the piece for hit.

    Also if you look on shadowpriest.com, they aren't even touching the new value for mastery & my guess is because its not getting buffed tbh. Its still a crap stat for shadow because its too RNG based in pve while in pvp you are moving quite a bit and the getting hit from melee helps to proc an orb too. As far as assuming that its a flat 16% buff (number is still wrong because last build had the post-buff nerf number being 11.6% as stated in the PTR notes) that wouldn't mean that the value of the stat would increase 16% too because, again, its RNG based.

    Infinite mana was not used. The lowest % any profile reached was 40% total mana. Empowered Shadows up-time was 97% across all profiles tested.

    Great stuff. Hopefully you have this saved as a template somewhere and could just input new stat values as they update through the patch. I'd be interested in an updated list after 4.0.6 hits (once we're sure on all the changes of course).

    Looks Fantastic Twintop. I probably won't update my list til 4.0.6.

    Out of Curiosity I ran a Simcraft on my current armory profile, which is only an avg iLvl of 355. At only 14.09% Hit rating.

    Fantarius and New -- something that I've noticed from the sim outputs on ShadowPriest.com and here (sans your latest post, Fantarius) is that in almost all cases Hit is given a higher PP value than Spirit. Why is this? I would think that Spirit would be higher than Hit since 1 Spirit = 1 Hit (1 Spirit = 1.03 Hit for Humans) and Spirit also gives us regen. Is it just the sims outputing PP values that are acceptable within a confidence interval?

    The simulations will find the stat weights by running different scenarios with*+-200 of a stat to find it's affect on DPS. In terms of Hit/Spirit, the number you see is the DPS you loose by subtracting one hit rating.

    The slight differences between Spirit/Hit are a result of how the statistical analysis is done and are not anything to be concerned about.

    Also, Simulation craft does not factor in the utility factor of Spirit's out of combat regen as it's not a DPS concern. I will find out how the human racial is accounted for in simulation craft, but I know it is considered in some way.

    You'd probably want to rerun your simulations with the _PTR.simc profiles, since those have the new 54 Int/Critdmg meta gems and not the 54 int/mana meta.
    But i believe #1 and #2 on the list won't change.

    The switching of the importance between Mastery and Crit in the two profiles is probably a result of neglecting secondary stats. In the first example, avoiding Crit entirely has devalued Mastery and increased Crit's value. The second shows a devaluing of Crit by avoiding Mastery, causing Mastery to increase in value.

    I'm continuing tests in this areas as we speak.
