    Need quick Laptop Advice.

    Hello fellow MMO-Champions.

I like to search ebay a lot and keep coming across this kind of laptop http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOSHIBA-SATEL...ht_6380wt_1074. I have been looking at getting a laptop for some time now and the guys what sell these live about a 30min-1h drive from my house. So I'm just wondering, how would this laptop handle gaming?

( Also, if you scroll down the page in the link i gave, it shows a bunch of different laptops at the side, my price limit is $1,000 so if any of those are better please tell me.)

Terrible gaming laptop, horribly outdated dual core CPU, and a low end graphics card that is 2 generations behind.
This quad core has the same graphics card, but at least the CPU is a lot better, only reason I mentioned it is because this laptop costs less than the one you linked:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=360343098765

    This looks a bit better:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=160540535862
Slightly better CPU, and a significantly faster graphics card. Although neither the CPU or graphics card are real gaming material, they will be able to handle most games with reasonable settings.

Thanks heaps, I was actually thinking about bidding on it. So, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....ht_5585wt_1020 would be able to handle WoW on medium graphics with good FPS?

Yeah, it should be able to do that without a problem. 25 man raids might cause you to dip down low sometimes.

My old laptop was quite a bit slower in comparison to that one, but I was able to do all cata stuff on lowest settings smoothly. I don't do 25 man raids though, and they are a lot more intense on your system (particularly the CPU).

TLDR: That laptop will run cata smoothly at medium settings, possibly with the exception of 25 man raids.

Alright, sweet. I don't do 25 mans. Just log on daily to do dailies, heroics, BG's and 10mans. So I think I might be heading in this laptops direction.

just going to throw it out there, but most of pc problem's are easy to fix by yourself, as long as you have any other form of access to internet, plus wouldn't be so sure, that stuff off ebay will have better coverage. But your choice. Just for me, newegg has proved to be a better store then ebay/amazon for the pc parts and such.

I guess your right. Would the laptop you linked be a better option than the Tobisha Satellite?

Edit: Would it be worth it to wait for a sandybridge?

Slightly better graphics card (difference is probably un-noticeable) but it does have DX11 support which might make a noticeable difference in WoW. That triple core is probably on par with the dual core when it comes to gaming performance.

If you are going to buy from newegg, at least get something decent:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834215003
Fast i3 dual core with the fastest graphics card you can get in a new laptop under $750.

If you don't mind getting a refurb one, this one will outperform anything in its price range:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220733
Asus is a really good brand so you can't go wrong with them. A 260GTX is a high end graphics card and it has a pretty fast dual core CPU.

If you have the ability to order from newegg, there is no reason not to. I'm not sure what the AUD to USD exchange rate is, but the deals you have in Australia seem terribly overpriced and the offers are terribly outdated.

With proper care and maintenance, it is almost impossible for your laptop hardware to fail nowadays, the majority of the problems you might encounter are software problems. You can usually solve these with the help of the internet forums or if worse comes to worse, you can take it to any shop and get ripped off.
