Also, I just did the tauren intro quests to see what everyone was talking about with the tauren woman from vanilla be cremated, she wasn't burned, her sarcophagus was on stilts (like the rest) and they gave a speech, i waited for 10 minutes, it never burned, then I was given a quest to leave the village. None of the quests leading up to this event nor away from it mentioned cremation in any way either. She was never burned, screenshot below:

I believe the tauren are based off of a native american tribe, I forget which one though. They would take their dead and put them on raised platforms and decorate the platforms. I believe the tauren do the same.

As you would see around the barrens, the graveyards there (Where you ress from) are actually Tauren graveyards and you can see Tauren bodies wrapped in stuff, decorated and are on raised platforms.
