    How's this build?

Building a new PC and wondering how the build looks and if everything is compatible with each other. Also if you guys would suggest any different components. This PC is being used for mainly watching Netflix and Bluerays while using a treadmill.

    Case - Rosewill 101-P-BK (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-112-_-Product)

Motherboard- Choice between ASUS P7H55-M PRO LGA 1156 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131623) or GIGABYTE GA-H55M-USB3 LGA 1156 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128429)

    CPU - Intel i5-760 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115067)

    Heatsink - COOLER MASTER Intel Core i5 compatible GeminII S RR-CCH-PBU1-GP (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=geminii%20s)

    Hard drive - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152245)

    Memory - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231190)

    PSU - Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371033)

    CD Drive - LITE-ON Black 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Disc Combo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106292)

    SSD - OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" 60GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227550)

    Video Card - GIGABYTE GV-R685D5-1GD Radeon HD 6850 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125348)

Would you guys suggest possibly getting more memory, whether it is 2 x 4 or 4 x 2?

Build looks great ~ just wait a few weeks and trash the CPU/Mobo ~ as the sandy bridges will be available for sale March 1st. The i5 2500k or 2500 will perform better for less.

If for any reason you can't convince yourself to wait for this... *stamp* of approval

As far as ram goes ~ what all will you be using this comp for?

I like it for the most part. However, I want to make some suggestions.

Have you considered the Rosewill CHALLENGER case? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...l%20challenger) It's a little more expensive, but it really is a fantastic little case for the money, and a Micro-ATX board will fit perfectly (though full ATX is a tight fit).

For motherboard, I would go wit hthe Asus P7P55M if you can find it elsewhere... H55 is mainly for hometheatre PCs, P-series are geared more towards gamers and everyone else. Though, looking at newegg, all Micro-ATX P55 boards from both Asus and Gigabyte are sold out... however, if you're willing to spend extra for that P55 goodness, then go for the Maximus III Gene from Asus (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-599-_-Product)

PSU could use a little work, 380 is too low (with this whole system, full system wattage would be about that, give or take and would at the very least bump up to a 500 or 550W PSU, something like the Antec TruePower 550W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371020) would do nicely.

Video card, the Gigabyte is good, however for the same money you can pick up an XFX HD6850 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150505) and get a double lifetime warranty with registration.

    Get 2x4096 MB RAM.
It's dirt-cheap, get it. No point in not getting it. Sooner or later, you'll take an advantage of it.

Otherwise, looks good - apart from me never having heard about the heatsink (model that is).

As Cantii said, you need to upgrade that PSU, unless you want to have tons of power issues. Go for 550w MINIMUM. Older model video cards required at least a 450 watt PSU and I can only imagine these gigantic newer ones would need a bigger one. Also, get a Corsair modular power supply.

The lowest modular PSU that Corsair has, is the 650 HX, which is found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2&Tpk=650%20HX

It's a little pricy, but I agree with Deltrus... I almost never recommend a non-modular PSU, and this was the first time in almost two years that I did, with the Antec TruePower... I feel dirty.

    CLEANSE THYSELF!!!
650 watts wouldn't hurt him. I have a 650 TX (kinda wish I had a modular though, the insides of my computer are a fucking mess!) and I can rest easy knowing my computer is well powered. :P

When I built my current comp, I got the Corsair 750HX... $140, but hell, modular and I can upgrade parts like crazy and not run out of power, and still have a helluva lot of space inside from lack of cables

I'm about to build a new desktop and I am really considering if I have extra cash left over to just buy a modular.

That's not how it works. The size of the card does not reflect relative power draw. Also, successive generations of cards do not steadily consume more power for they must stay within a standardized ATX power envelope. Even the dreaded GTX 400 series of cards complied with this standard, they were only seemed worse because of the bad transistor design within the chip's architecture which caused them to draw a bit more power under load than expected. You could easily run a new GTX 580 on a quality 500 watt power supply and not have to worry about overdrawing it or anything.

That said, a wonderful power supply for this build would be the Antec TruePower New TP-550, which is currently marked down at $69.99 on newegg. At this price it's a steal compared to anything else in this wattage range and is a very strong performer with some modularity as well.
