    ideal halfus strat 4.0.6

Hey guys, we just got 12/12 and we are moving on to hard modes. We are starting with halfus but I was wondering if some of you guys could post your successful kills in 4.0.6. I know a lot has changed for this fight so what is the ideal way to kill halfus now?

    Thanks

We straight away release the shadow nova drake, whelps, and frenzied assault drake. Kill one drake and when the whelps are almost dead, we release time warden and kill that. We ignore the one that stuns halfus.

does one of your tanks tank halfus and a drake and the other tank the whelps and a drake?

    3 healers?

We still 3 tank it. We release everything but slate.

    Tank 1: halfus
    Tank 2: nether
    Tank 3: storm + time

They all kind of aoe aggro the whelps.

Group mass aoe's down whelps, followed by Storm, then whatever is lowest after storm.

Killed him for the first time last Sunday.

    3 Tanks
    2 ferals and pala

    3 Healers
    Pala, shammie and druid

    4 DPS
Fire mage, Frost Dk, Hunter and a SP (i think)

Released 2 drakes and whelps at the start, Halus MD to one feral the other picking up one of the other dragons and swapping whenever debuff vanishes. OFC with HoPs to clear at the start. Pala picked up the other dragon and the whelps.

Early hero and nuke prot pala dragon with splash damage going on the rest..release time once first dragon dies...kill whatever dragon is lowest and when dead the slate was released. Find that very helpfull for the stuns at the end although probably not needed. Think we were 30 secs away from enrage or something like that.

    Raid Setup:-

    1x Feral Druid
    1x Prot Pala

    2x Holy Pala
    1x Resto Shaman

    1x Shadow Priest
    1x Hunter
    1x Warlock
    1x Fury Warrior
    1x Enhancement Shaman

    Strat:-

Note - Everything is tanked next to the whelp cage.

    - Feral Druid pulls Halfus > Prot Pala releases Storm Rider > Hunter releases Nether Scion and MD's to Prot Pala
    - Raid goes full burn on Storm Rider with bloodlust as soon as their all together
    - As soon as bloodlust wears off have any dps release Time Warden (By the time he is up Storm Rider should be on 15% or less)
    - When Storm Rider is dead move onto Nether Scion
    - When Nether Scion is 10% pop the whelp cage
    - When Nether Scion is dead move onto Time Warden (you can also aoe the whelps at the same time)
    - Release Slate Dragon and off-tank him while you kill Halfus

Enhancement Shaman is focus windshearing the Nova.
BoP and tank rotation for Halfus healing debuff.
Roar + Shadow Nova is not an issue as long as you keep everyone topped and he will be stunned from the Slate Dragon majority of the time anyways.

The drakes do a lot less damage now and have a lot less health and as its no longer so hectic you can quite easily start off with 2 drakes and Halfus on the pull instead of 3.

Enrage time is again not a problem.

    Tefters

P.S. The only real changes are:-

    - Drakes do less dmg
    - Drakes have less HP
    - Halfus receives damage debuff on drake death instead of release
    - Shadow Nova now has a lot longer cooldown

    1. Tank 1 picks up Halfus while ...
    2. a melee DPS opens the Storm Rider for him.
    3. Tank 2 frees the Time Warden.
    4. Hunter opens and misdirects the Nether Scion to him.
    5. Rogue frees the whelps and tricks them to Tank 2.
    6. Switch tanks for Halfus at 4 stacks.
    7. Pull everything together.
    8. Kill Time Warden and finish the rest of the whelps after TW is dead.
    9. Kill whatever dragon is lowest next.
    10. After that kill the last one.
    11. Free Slate and just tank him (optional if heal is good)
    12. Kill the boss.

    Nice to have:
    - Paladins for his Hand / Blessing / whatever - don't forget the cancelaura-macro
    - Shaman to kick the Shadow Nova
    - Druids / Disc for < 50%
    - People who need the loot

    3 healers.
2 tanks. 1 fury warrior tanks the boss for ~30 seconds in the beginning. Kiting with intervene and HLeap, using shieldwall, stuff like that. This saves a lot of healing debuff on real thanks who hold the drakes.

We usualy 3tank/3 heal using the strats discussed above, but yesterday our offtank decided to quit playing wow 5 minutes before the raid... so we ended up doing 2 tank 4 heals.

resto druid/ holy paly / resto shaman x2 Warrior tank and DK tank

    1) Hunter stands next to nether and pulls halfus (We do this so the tank doesnt already have 4stacks when we release the drakes)
    2) when halfus gets close to him, warrior taunts halfus and hunter release nether and missdirect to DK tanks
    3) DK tank release storm
    4) rogue release whelps
    5) We burn Storm while whelps get cleaved down by warlock's pet and warrior tank
    6) release time when storm dies
    7) We kill the lowest HP drake next
    8) release slate dragon ( we dont kill him)
    9) kill a 3rd drake
    10) burn Halfus down
( Edit: ofc tanks swap for MS Debuff to fadeout)

Notice at 4:13 I have to pop a jeev's because our tank'S shield broke mid fight LOL

Do not release the Slate Dragon. There's absolutely no point. You're trading a stun on halfus for significant tank damage from the drake.

Just leave the Slate Dragon sleeping through the entire fight.

Since the 4.0.6 changes the damage taken on halfus is much higher and there is less (if any ) tanks tanking drakes during the roar. Just let slate sleep over there on his own.

Edit : as for the varying raid comps posted, not sure what is optimal for 10, but 25 you could essentially use 4 tanks or even 9 healers while learning the fight and potentially kill it due the the 400% increase on halfus after everything is dead (with ofc slate sleeping in the corner).

    In short:
    2 tanks, 3 healers, 5 dps.
    Kill order: Whelps/Storm->Nether Scion->Time Warden->Halfus

Paladin starts to tank Halfus + Scion, warrior tank on Storm + whelps. Pop bloodlust, nuke whelps with aoe but still have mainfocus on Storm. Storm is about to die, release Time warden, warrior picks up.
Tanks/healers must chain cooldowns during this first phase, as the fight is cake once it's over. Paladin removes healing debuff from himself once it reaches 8-10 (depends on rate of application), usually happens pretty fast. Once the paladin again reaches 5-6 stacks, the warrior tauns him off. Once he has 4-5 stacks, a paladin uses hand of protection on him, removes the debuff. As soon as the paladins debuff runs out, taunt back. This should happen through the whole fight.

If you have proper dps, most drakes are down and a taunt-rotation shouldn't be any problem with two tanks.
    Tips:
    - Utilize all cooldowns during the starting phases, that's the painful part.
    - Do NOT stand in fire once the Time Warden is released, it is easy avoidable and deals alot of damage.
    - Have your healers know when target-switching is made.
    - Use a reliable interrupter on Halfus, shadownovas are raidkilleres if your healers aren't constantly on their toes.

    10man

    Tanks: Warrior/Pally
Healers: Disc Priest / Druid / Pally
DPS: Hunter (I think MM), Fire mage, Asn Rogue, Frost DK, Feral Druid

We just release everything except Slate, have Warrior tank Halfus and Pally tank the 3 drakes, and just burn the drakes down 1 by 1:

    Storm -> Time -> Nether

And just let the whelps die to cleaves/other AoE. Warrior tank at the beginning will let his stacks get to 10/11 then the pally healer will BoP him, instantly click it off and re-taunt the boss. Pally will do the same thing when he gets Halfus, Divine Shielding himself and instantly clicking it off then re-taunting the boss. After the drakes are down it's pretty much tank and spank until it's dead. However, make sure people are topped off before each stun, as it hits VERY hard in Heroic.

Just an update, my guild was able to successfully down heroic halfus in about 1 hour. Our setup was:

    DK TANK
    Druid TANK
    DRUID HEALER
    DISC PRIEST
    HOLY PALADIN
    DESTRO WARLOCK
    FIRE MAGE
    ENH SHAMAN
    SHADOW PRIEST
    COMBAT ROGUE

We released nether, storm, whelps. Killed whelps first with 1-2 dps on storm with cleave on the whelps. Dk tanked halfus+whelps, druid tanked nether+storm. When Dk reached 8 stacks, he got bopped->removed it, got another 8 stacks and then the druid taunted halfus while the dk taunted nether(used /tar /cast taunt macros). As soon as the whelps were dead storm was around 35%, when storm was killed time was released and picked up by the druid tank.

Kill order was whelps, storm, nether, time.

    Took us roughly 4-5 attempts.

    DK Tank
    Warrior Tank
    Pally Heals
    Sham Heals
    Druid Heals
    all ranged DPS

DK pulled Halfus at range, ran to entrance, I (priest) started netherscion life griped DK to scion and he went from there (this mitigating the quick stacks in the begining before the drakes were active helped out tons)

Warrior picked up storm hunter MDed time to warrior

Burned down storm asap, while DK got to 10 stacks, HOP (dunno why people say BOP since it is hand of protection) to reset the stacks

Storm dies, warrior taunts halfus, DK taunts time, so at this point storm is dead, DK has 2 drakes, warrior has halfus

Warrior releases the whelps, tanks pick them up with w/e

    Nether scion dies 2nd

    Time 3rd

Whelps should be dead by then

Ele sham on halfus the entire time for interupts + chain lightning w/e the first drake dies

After 1-2 drakes die fire mage goes on halfus for splash damage to kill whelps while we finish off nether storm

Phase 2, mage blinks out of third roar on ever cycle and interupts the shadow nova

IF you need to, tank 1 can get 10 stacks, HOP, 10 stacks, die, BRES, 8 stacks then work from there, this will give you even more time but I would say use BRES only if needed and just make sure the offtank at the time is watchin if the other tank dies aoe taunt get the tank back up and you can easily clear from there
