Oh it was 14 million. I misread or mixed it up with someone else by being 12 million.
Well that makes the thing even more weird! Good for Eller, though.

Washington Capitals signed a rookie deal with Nathan Walker. He is the first Australian player to make an NHL contract.
I don't expect that they'd let him go for free.
But I really think this is best for Reimer.
It goes to arbitration and I could easily see it being another Tommy Salo situation.
Maybe Edmonton, Winnipeg, or Washington sends us a second rounder for him. Maybe Pittsburgh would make a trade if they're tired of MAF. Every other team looks like they have a preferential goalie in net or is tanking for Eichel/McDavid Buffalo.

I dunno, I don't think Buffalo will be as bad as they were last season. Sure, they have fuck all in net as far as I can tell but they have a lot of prospects and some veterans who will help lead the young guys along. They might not make the playoffs but they won't be that horrible. The season or two after though they might be a threat.
It's going to be hard to tank this year. I mean there are plenty of teams vying for the last spot this time around. Buffalo, Florida, Edmonton, Calgary, New York Islanders. That is some pretty tough company to tank against. I don't mention the Jets because they are going to be 9th/10th in the West, and don't seem keen on tanking the season.
If he's smart he'll take a 1M contract somewhere just to try and prove he's still a worthwhile NHL player in a depth role on a team that could use some 4th line depth for scoring.
A bit excessive in my opinion, but he's still young. So maybe Sather is banking on him proving himself. And honestly, what other real choices do the Rangers have right now? lol
I think Brassard is better than Bolland (and younger too), and his deal is cheaper so there's the silver lining.
Still too long if Sather just wants the guy to prove himself.
