Despite his reputation, Torts would have been better for them IMO. He'd force players to dive in front of the puck. He also wouldn't let them get away with letting an opponent knock their goalie over and doing nothing.

    So, little surprising:

"There's blood all over my hands in this too as well because I put the lineup together and the roster," MacTavish told a news conference at the Oilers' downtown offices.

"But it's just the compounding of the losses that led me to this decision."

MacTavish will take over as head coach on a transitional basis before handing the reins to Todd Nelson, who is being promoted to interim head coach from Edmonton's American Hockey League affiliate in Oklahoma City.

MacTavish said he didn't have a timeline on when he would return to the front office.

    And:

MacTavish more than a week ago, also said there was no point to breaking up the core talent of the team, saying there were so few tradeable assets, any trade would be a simultaneous step forward and backward

On Monday, when he was asked again if he would touch the core, he didn't rule it out.

"I don't want to answer that question until I get a hands-on understanding of exactly what's happening in there (the dressing room)," said MacTavish.
    Source: see link above.

That probably means some trades are coming.
It will be interesting to see if Hall, Eberle or Hopkins stay in Edmonton or if we will see them play for another team in the near future.

    Thoughts?

theres reports that theyre shopping hall who was labeled as "uncoachable". Take that for what you will but I imagine theyd be asking for an arm and or a leg for Hall because of his talent level and contact.

Let's market a guy as "uncoachable". That should help out... I'm curious what Dallas will give up for him though.

Dallas needs goaltending and defense, not more underperforming forwards.

Kings are playing pretty shitty considering they're practically the only ones not getting the mumps.

Despite their injuries, they have the best record in hockey.

Zemgus Girgensons is #1 in all star voting... Those Latvians going hard? He has more than double the votes than any other player in the league

Not as bad as Ottawa trying to get their entire team into the all star game a few years ago though.

If I was Girgensons I would tell people to stop, Id rather take a 3 day weekend then waste my time at the "all-star" game.

  16. #24376
The only time I would want to go to the all star game as a player is if I was in the final year of my contract, so I could go do some under the table talking.
