Since it's not an organized raid and just random people joining in, I was just curious how that would work out. Is there a special chat, or what?
Probably just the regular chat or whispers. There may be one jerk whos not doing it properly, but then you also have everyone else who will.

I'll probably go for Norn, feels cool. First I thought Charr was nice, but it feels like a lesser tauren. The problem with Norn is, it would be epic to be a Norn melee character, so a warrior or a guardian. I like melee, but I've never really played one as a main if you don't count shamans. It feels like melee is always the one who is running after the casters who control the battle.

Though, I shoudn't prabably worry about it, since my military service probably starts when Guild Wars 2 is released. Yay for postponing the army.

Every class gets a ranged weapon and have CC abilities and these weapons and ablities are not useless, there are so many different ways to play a character it's just insane.

For instance as a Warrior you could be going for a Two-hand sword option and if the enemy runs away from you you can charge them and do damage to them (And any in the path of your attack) then if they're still getting away you can pull out your bow and cripple them to catch up some more or even just finish them off from range with your bow which is also a perfectly viable option for the warrior.

Just don't worry about being a melee class, you won't be punished for it.

Also the Guardian has massive control over the fight with all his shields and buffs. (Though he still does plenty of damage)

The Guardian does look fun, especially when you don't have to worry about having to tank or have a part of your class dedicated to tanking which I don't care for at all. Any other game and I wouldn't even consider a class named Guardian. I do like the idea of protective shields and walls in PvP.

    Play ALL the classes!

That's my plan though I will be focusing on Guardian for my main in PvP and PvE.

Guardian is only a tank to a small degree, he specialises at preventing damage from occuring at all to himself or his team, this game really doesn't have tank/DPS/healer in the traditional sense, everyone gets support and they have to work together to complete objectives; yes indeed this does mean you won't be waiting for a tank to go do a dungeon, you can just get your friends together and go for it.

I don't know how it works in GW, but as long as it doesn't have a defensive "talent spec" you have to stay in in order to play that class. I can tank if the only thing I need to do is equip a shield and I'm good to go. :-)

Edit: Btw, as the guardian is the only "tank to a small degree", is there also a class that is a "healer to a small degree"? :P

Any class can be any role, there is no Holy Trinity o DPS, Tank, and Healer.

Guardian can tank, Thief can heal.. Anyone can do anything
    Excited

You can't be a tank. Not even in a small degree, because the threat system doesn't work like in the trinity games. Mobs will just move by you.

guardian is a tank in a small degree he got spells to receive less dmg. the elemntalist is a healer to a small degree. his water attunement. he can go throw some aoe heals with it. so if anything is a tank, its the guardian, the healer is the water mage. but its no trinity like this was stated in an interview too, but i wont find it, too much interviews going around^^

and no, mobs will attack the nearest target, not move by you...this is proven allready

and no, you cant do all things, some classes cant heal others like some other classes do, its just there is no tank or healer anymore and every class got self heals...there is still teamplay in this game lol.

I want to play all the classes even the one that hasn't been revealed yet. I just am against them having to pay for using classes that are in-game when you are limited to 3-4 slots like they did in GW1. So many class combinations only 4 slots. (If I remember right) I know they don't have the dual class option like they did in the original but still.

That was biggest gripe about Champions online as well before it went F2P. So many combinations with powers or characters focused on 1 power set. you want to make more characters? Pay extra for a slot on top of a monthly fee. They say MT character slots isn't degrading the game-play. Uhm creating a character is a game-play option. Look at SIMS......... Ans SIMS thrived on DLC/MT. I avoid MTs like the plague.

OK I know i'm raging but if they are going to release 8 classes/professions we should have 8 slots. I don't see D3 not letting us play all 5 classes and I know there will be some form of DLC/MT for D3 and that is F2P even though it's not an MMO yet we are still constantly connected online so we can 'Store' our characters.

I'm not sure where GW1 is making their $$$. I think it's cosmetic changes and items etc but like I said I will stay away from that aspect of the game like the plague.

Also yeah the Guardian will most likely be my fist class.

Guardians and Necromancers can do AoE heals too. I remember one gameplay video from gamescom this year mentioned that with the Guardian AoE healing circle, if a thief shot bullets through the circle and it hit a target, it would cause a trickle of aoe healing to people in melee range of that target. I'm curious as to whether well of blood will have a similar functionality. Necros also can consume debuffs off allies for a self heal, or transfer debuffs from an ally to an enemy. So as far as anything close to a more favored healing class goes, Necro currently is taking the cake. It's a nice utility, since the class is focused more towards attrition than damage bursts, meaning in pvp, Necros like Guardians are going to play heavy support roles.

Basically everyone can support their teams in different ways with different abilities, as has been mentioned there isn't a 'Holy Trinity' as they have in other games, it's all about support, everyone gets a heal too by the way.

What I meant by 'tank to a small degree' is that as a Guardian if you equip a Mace/Shield you get a couple of abilities that allow you to mitigate extra damage meaning if someone has gone down you can probably get in there and get the bosses attention for long enough that a teammate can pick the ally back up and then you go back to work taking down the enemy with your other more damage orientated abilities. A big thing to note is that if you just stand there and try to tank like you would in a game like WoW you WILL die regardless of if you're using the more tanky weapons and abilities at the time.

This game is about adapting to different situations and using all your abilities to keep yourself and your friends alive, not trying to play a specific role. This is a very good thing.

All very true, I sort of mentioned that that in my post saying everyone could support but didn't enlarge on that.

What i'd liek to know is that PvP wise everyones gear is the same. How do i look different from the guy next to me and what is the reward from looting other layers in pvp and winning matches.

The only thing i could think about would be stones to change the look of your gear AND awesome looking gear to change the skin of your pvp gear. And the better rating you are the better looking gear you get thus the more recognition

    EDIT: Do we get mounts?

These are just rumors floating around on the internet. Arenanet devs have already said that they have not yet decided how many player slots they are giving us.

Okay.. Four would be horrible.. I need to try all of the classes and I don't delete characters easily..
    Excited

wasnt the guardin bubble just a protective thing? saw that in a pvp video, but if it could heal, awesome, too the necro cast still isnt cast on an ally cause youz cant cast on an ally, so i wonder how this will be solved, but they still said the most "healing" class would be the water mage, if you can say that...well im just rly happy that they broke the holy trinity
