    Mmmmm...

Although it screws up and gives hammer an offhand weapon too. You have to select another weapon and re-selct hammer to see the 2 hammer moves instead of the fake offhand.

This would be my PvP setup. I went for Well of Blood as my healing spell because the AoE sticks around when I go into Lich Form, while the Blood Fiend immediately despawns. Lich Form doubles your max health, but leaves your current health at the same amount, so healing right after going into Lich Form is a must. I put Well of Corruption on there because boons are powerful and need to go away if I see them on my opponents. I chose the Axe/Warhorn set for melee, using Locust swarm for Swiftness to get into range, then combining that skill's damage with the two Claw skills. The Staff is for situations where ranged damage is better.

Also Ghost Armor is apparently 50% damage resistance, seems like a good skill for PvP to me.

My Sylvari Necro, Axe and war horn i would do healing well for group, well of suffering, and posion cloud(hoping it works in cross class combos), shadow fiend, and not sure on elite but probably lich
Dagger and war horn would be my soloing+pets, with blood fiend, bone fiend, bone minions, and shadow fiend and i think plague for elite

I see someone else has taken a liking to the Axe/Warhorn combo. The Claw attacks look amazing, check out the youtube vid I posted on page 345 if you haven't already, it has footage of both Rending Claws and Ghastly Claws.

Also, yes, allies that attack from inside your Poison Cloud will cause stacks of Poison with each attack.

Ya it looks like you should be able to do lots of damage and get some healing in with locust swarm

I think you mean bored. Yes, I am bored. Haha. =) I've used the setup tool many, many times already and I know that it's not going to mean anything when the game actually comes out, and I'm going to want to try everything. But I guess I have to have something to keep my busy while I wait. Guild Wars 2 seems so far away. =(

Human Elementalist, I was certain that I was going to play one until I remembered that there's another profession to be announced!
If it's Mesmer - Sylvari Mesmer
    If not, Human Elementalist

The question about which classes to play are one of the hardest decisions I've had to make!

Just out of curiosity what is it that swayed you GW2 fans in this direction rather than jumping into the SWTOR bunch? I figure most will pick one or the other, but for me the animations and art in GW2 sold me on it. I play for immersion to explore a fresh new world. An already existing IP MMO and, in my opinion, lesser animations and art is what turned me away.

Still torn between Thief, Necromancer or Warrior. All I know is Norn is gonna be my race, I love snowy northern Viking races whenever applicable. (Barbarians in EQ1)

At first i was all for SWTOR and only SWTOR, started hearing a couple things about gw2 here and there and i always thought that sounds really fun. Saw a couple videos and it looked great, then i saw the shatterer video and i was pretty much sold

Dynamic world, fast/responsive combat, quest mechanics that reward playing together (as opposed to penalizing), even playing field pvp, no gear grind, nice artwork.

    For a start.

Several factors initially drew me into GW2 and deterred me from SWTOR. I always heard good things about the original Guild Wars, especially about the pricing model. I already have some personal bias against the Star Wars franchise. I'm not really nostalgic about the movies, and I think the first one I saw was one of the prequels people always complain about with that hellspawn Jarjar. I've never really investigated SWTOR as the art style and gameplay seems generic to me at a glance, while GW2 has those patented "painterly" particle effects and slick, fast-paced gameplay, what with the rolling and dodging.

Dynamic Events. The fact that I can take place in multi-layer, epic quest chains and events SOLO. That this game is "take it or leave it." That the game is more skill based than gear based.

As someone who has gone from playing 4-5 hours a day to maybe 2, a game like this would be perfect for me. Making the classes skill based, I won't have to worry about upgrading my gear. And since the I won't need to worry about "gee, what zone do I go to next?" when I get done with a big event or level up.

Oh, and the aesthetics of the game. The look, and how it feels (well, assuming how it feels based on videos).

Howdy, avid GWer here. Been playing GW on and off since beta, and been following GW2 ever since its announcement in 2006 or 2007, but for some reason have never posted in this thread :P ... If any of the new people getting GW need some help, or any others experienced people just feel like adding on to your friends list, feel free to add me.

it might sound a little bit rude, but for me it was like that:

swtor = shitty new wow, with every quest voiceovered and i would just skip the voicover cause i dont wanna hear a whole story. wanna play more than hear questtext + how can u spend 50% of your money on voiceovers, ridicilous<,< as is said a little bit rude, but it was rly like that back in the days it has changed until now...i think^^

well and gw2 just gave me this, dunno how to describe it, it just gave me this" this is an mmo and looks like it"-feeling back from the old wow days + it is more action based. im tired of this" stand there, keep pressing 1 and if you are very pro, you press 1 + 2!!!!!" i just cant stand it anymore...

As a fan of real time rpgs I wanted a mmo that actually makes me feel like I"m in control, traditional mmo's don't give me that feeling believe me when I say I'm not exxagerating but guild wars 2 is the type of game I always wanted to play at least in mmo format anyway.

I've been dedicated to Guild Wars since it first came out. I love the lore and the concept of the original game although it's rather empty and stagnant now. Guild Wars 2 is beauty incarnate in video game form. I'm interested in swtor some, it looks more interesting that wow, but it's a drop of water compared to the sea of devotion that is guild wars 2.

Also, guild wars 2 has Rytlock Brimstone

This isn't a thread to bash swtor in. You are aware that nearly every dialogue in guild wars 2 is voiced over right?

I only know the very basics of Guild Wars lore, would you care to tell me exactly what makes Rytlock so interesting to you? The Charr are a pretty interesting race to me as a whole since they were full-blown antagonists in the original game; surely he's a good example of what they're all about.

You'd have to read edge of destiny to get a good idea. He's just everything I imagine a good protagonist to be. He's not perfect, but not ruthless or stupid either, and he's pretty hilarious at times. Also I like charr and fiery dragon swords http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sohothin

The gameplay is simply a breath of fresh air in the MMO genre. There's nothing else out there that has shown as much promise as I've seen from GW2. Throw that in with its amazing graphics and interesting lore, and I don't see how anyone could not sway in this direction.
