We don't know when the NDA is lifted, and ArenaNet are only allowing the press to release certain things on Monday. How broad that limit is, we don't know.

It is monday in some places and no the NDA havent been lifted, today is just the day the press can start to talk about what they have seen this weekend, not the same thing

Games need a death penalty to not only only incentivise good play but give the player an apprehension (not fear) of failure. The question is this death penalty too much, and I don't think it comes close. Spending five or so minutes using waypoints to repair gear is pretty softball but it's enough to make you think twice. Like other posters I remember EQ penalties where a single mistake could wipe you of days of progress. Someone above me mentioned Bioshock, which is a perfect example of a game with no death penalty. Walk into a room with a Big Daddy with very little ammo? No probs, there's a Vita Chamber in the corner where you will spawn with the Big Daddy's health exactly where you left it when you died. Adding a death penalty at this stage in development is not so much a change in philosophy I think,but a realisation that a game with no penalty at all is trivialised.

About this repairing thing, I would absolutely love it if you had to use crafting materials from salvage etc...a few tine ore, some hide, rather than just gold.
Some might hate that, but I would devour that feature.

Unlikely, they need gold sinks since they took potions out.

I mean crafting materials + gold Not just crafting materials.

Also, for those who couldn't be bothered to salvage, they may even buy crafting materials. Not really a sink...but money being spent. And generally it would be another stimulation for the economy through increased need for crafting materials.

As an owner of an English Bulldog and Pug, I can only hope they do this when I turn my back. They mostly are too fat to party hard though. :c
