There's a list of supported retailers on the main site, I know amazon are still selling copies with pre-purchase codes, I'm sure there are other retailers too. If the price is the same your most reliable bet is direct from Anet though.

I don't think they've said when the deadline for pre-ordering is.

They are putting in Borderlands 2 optimizations as well, so that's why it is delayed. They are hoping for a friday release, but it could be 2-3 days later.

I would just keep checking everyday, I think there is a good chance we may get around 1gig on Friday.

I did make a somewhat cute Sylvari...and even found a cute charr. I thought about trying to make a cute asura but the default one that pops up made me shriek and I hastily backtracked to the race selection screen.

That said though - yeah...am veering very much in the direction of humans only.
