Indeed. He has to cover a lot of games and material and therefore cannot be tied down to one game such as he did in the past (or some other video bloggers such as Lore from gamebreakertv).

  2. #29782
Even Lore branched out from just WoW/Tankspot stuff exclusively, yeah.

"WE TALK ABOUT WOW/GW2/WHATEVER ALL THE TIME!" is a real tough gig.

I was able to do the Shadow Behemoth in Queensdale yesterday, first real boss event for me.

Pretty damn awesome, ok it was easy and the loot was salvagecrap, but the whole atmosphere brought me back to the good old worldboss events in Rift.

My warrior still seems to be interesting and will continue to be my main for now, and my girlfriend has moved on to level 13 on her ranger, got a whole set of masterworks gear for her when she gets to level 14.

I think Im doing a good job in converting her to a bit of a gamer, she never grew up with games besides mario on the gameboy, so she lacks the understanding of stats, gear, builds and the general MMO-lingo. And when she has to do worldevents with me, she usually complains a bit when everyone zergs the mobs before she can react.
However, when she has the chance to solo an event or do her personal storyline, she gets engulfed in the game and the age old "one more event or one more storyline quest" syndrome starts to appear

    Great sites, Thanks.

I'm using a greatsword at the moment and i'm farming the Twilight dungeon for the Twilight armor/wep but then i saw that the stats is conditional and conditional isn't very good for a GS warrior. So now i have to get a Exotic armor/wep with the correct stats and the Twilight Armor/wep for transmog?

Did they change how contribution is counted? I thought it used to be 1 point of damage was enough to get credit for anything, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I just participated in a 7 minute long onslaught event that was 10 levels higher than me and despite doing AoE damage to all the mobs (even though it was only 7-9 damage per hit) and being active for the entire 7 minutes I didn't get loot or EXP for a single enemy and ultimately did not get any credit for the event either.

I believe this may be a bug. I've read some posts from people saying they didn't get any credit for participating in some events. I might be wrong though and so far it hasn't happen to me.

They changed it since people like me used to run low lvl toons to cursed shore and then farmed penitent/shelter

Did that for like 6 characters.

I can't even imagine. Pre-Orr nerf with a low level aggro radius? Did you have help? >_<

This was only my second time running a level 30 out to Harathi Hinterlands. First time was a success. This time, well, I guess I need to level more.

I feel your pain. I parked one of my level 80s in Queensdale for the Shadow Behemoth event while I'm leveling an alt through there. I noticed the second time I logged on to do the event I didn't get a chest. I noticed the third time I logged on that not only wasn't there a chest, but I'd gotten less than 1/3 of the EXP I usually get. I finally realized I was getting hit with DR and apparently it's character specific because there was plenty of variety in my alt's play. Really annoying. I'm not even sure how to cancel out DR either.

I also like doing the centaur events in Harathi Hinterlands, but because it's non-stop centaurs I get hit with DR fairly quickly. Now that I know it's character specific (and apparently persists for at least 24 hours) it makes sense why most of the time I'm lucky to get Supply Bags as drops.

All you did was afk/use ammo cart at the never ending DEs in Orr. Aggro was never a problem. Besides you did it naked w/ 0 gold in pocket and people would rez you anyway.

Lane, if it's anything like GW1 DR, if you go *anywhere* else and kill anything else your DR will fall quickly...DR is there so that standing in one spot killing one mob is the worst possible way to play, they built a world (well, at least the better part of a continent thus-far) that they want to be seen.

I meant just getting there. I had a hard enough time traversing Straits of Devastation & Malchor's Leap as a level 80, so I can't even imagine going there underleveled. Just running my level 30 through a level 40 area I aggroed mobs from what seemed like 50 yards away and would get one-shotted by things I didn't even see on my screen. Orr would have been so much worse.

Maybe it was different in the earlier months of the game. When I went through Straits/Malchor there was hardly anyone on either map. WPs were difficult to get to and the vast majority of them were contested with events no one ever did. So every death would have amounted to being given a "Return to Start" card.

I was under the impression DR was to discourage botting. :P

Sometimes I do find repetitive farming relaxing. My first character in WoW I didn't do any quests past level 20. I just wandered the world and when I found an area I liked I'd hang around awhile and just grind. GW2's not that much different other than it's far more rewarding to wander around and when you do find an area you'd like to hang out in there are usually surrounding events happening.

One of my issues with DR is that there are some places, such as Harathi Hinterlands, where it's impossible to not get hit with DR even if you are playing the game as "intended". I use food/potion buffs so I know for a fact that the Junction Camp onslaught->Captain Edwards escort->Kingsgate rally->Ulgoth event chain takes at least 30 minutes to complete. My buffs usually wear off before Ulgoth is dead and the entire time I've done nothing but fight the same 3 types of mobs: centaurs, rock dogs, and war beasts (and for all I know rock dogs and war beasts are close enough to be considered the same "type"). The event chain is even longer if the centaurs control all of the northern camps. It extends the entire thing by roughly another 30 minutes, so now we're pushing an hour of killing the same 3 mobs.

The GW2 wiki's definition of DR is not only apparently wrong, but it goes on to say, "Diminishing returns on loot is not intended to affect the average player, i.e. very few players will experience it during normal play." This hasn't been my experience at all and, like I said, knowing that it's per character now explains a lot. It also doesn't give any instruction on how to remove it once you have it or how long to expect the process to take. In all seriousness, I'd like to know what I'm supposed to do between event chains that involve the same mob types to ensure that I'm not perpetually running around with DR?

Have to know how to run there and what is the best route. I usually crafted to level 15 or so and did the run from BTC to SFF and down through SOD.

Also have to know how to divert aggro; engineer turrets, clones, summons, pet, etc.

Logging off to char screen when you're about to die is probably the best "trick" to running. When you log back on you lost agro and are full hp

Does anyone know what the unofficial oceanic server is? Or really any server with a high oceanic population will do.

  17. #29797
Okay I have a noob question...
Every time I do one of the temple events in Orr people keep linking all their loot in /map... And I'm confused, is there a chest after each event I don't know about? Or what O.o I thought the karma vendors were the "reward" ...

  18. #29798
    Yup there's a chest for most/all of them (I haven't done all so I don't know)

  19. #29799
Hm... I didn't get anything after doing Grenth and Melandru, ran around for minutes trying to find a chest but nothing.
After Lyssa the chest was right there next to the boss. Weirrrrrd.

After doing the Skipping Stones jumping puzzle in Southsun Cove tonight I came to the conclusion again that I FKIN LOVE JUMPING PUZZLES.

The chest does not drop directly after defeating Grenth and Melandru - you must complete the next event in the chain. Just stay where the priest was and the next event spawns and then you get the chest.
