I'm fairly sure they weren't. I have a faint memory of selling them for absurd amount in early wrath before everyone was doing heroics (or even level 80).

Frozen Orbs were never soul-bound, but Primal Nethers and Nether Vortecies were for a time.

What you might be confusing it with was the patch where Frozen Orbs became a currency for other items.

chances are they'll be unbound when the new orb for crafting comes out, making levelling the proffesions easier for those levelling the proff later on.

cant remember frozen orbs being soulbound, i remember i always spend tokens on em when they were going for 100g each on my server

Hm my memory truely betrayed me than. Nigel seems to be right. Sorry. Looked for old patchnotes and found nothing about them not being soulbound anymore so it seems they never were.
