    Alysrazor 10 man Harsh Winds

So me and me guild are currently on Alysrazor but we have a big problem. I'm the one that takes 3 feathers and going up (boomkin) i can nuke her down to like 85% until the tornado phase, i hit every hoop and never fall down.

Now i've come across a problem and this, whenever she flies down in circles to prepare for the tornado phase i fly immediately down with her and i die because of Harsh Winds.

Can someone give us some help ? What is this Harsh Winds and how can i avoid it ?

Fly Closer to Alysrazor. You only get hit by it when you are to far away from the boss.

There are a couple of spots where if you are running around the outside ring and dodge out Harsh Winds will come into play

Are you flying down like, right in the middle of the room so as to try to avoid tornado dodging? If so, I'd bet money that that is your problem. I'm under the impression that the middle of the room is more or less a dead zone. Besides, you want to be tornado dodging so you can get another ring to refresh your stacks.

The outermost ring is the safest place to land In my opinion, gives you a little bit longer to get your bearings and then begin weaving in and out, or moving left and right when necessary. We gave the job to a shadow priest so he could disperse like a big pussy for this. If possible try and head as close to the ground without really landing before the tornadoes start spinning and work out how you're going to move, 85% is more than enough solo damage on ye old' flaming chicken.

Oh you're landing in the middle? ...Is there a need to do that? I'm a healer on this fight :S

According to the guide from icy-veins.com(http://www.icy-veins.com/alysrazor-detailed-strategy)

in phase 2, harsh winds will kill you if you are further than 60 yards from the center of the arena. The vortex kills you if you are within 15 yards of the center. So be in between 15 and 60 yards. There's a diagram in section 5.1 of the guide.

I went up flying for the first time this week. I had a blast but I got killed 5 times by the no one harsh winds (even when I was standing next to others in the raid on the ground). Does anyone have any advice?

If you're the person flying you'll get hit by Harsh Winds if you're too far away from Alysrazor, the distance outwards from the vortex probably still counts too. I remember our mage realising why he was dying from Harsh Winds in that phase and following the boss as it swoops down and staying close enough to it seemed to work for him.

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but I always fly down a few seconds before she goes down and starts circling. There are three rings on the ground before the tornadoes come out, and this definitely cut down on my dying while flying down/transitioning to the tornado stage.

I fly down right away to the ground and get a ring or two waiting for the tornadoes and then bang I'm dead (log says its the harsh wind).

I'm thinking about cancelling the flying aura and I'll def try sticking closer to Alys when I'm on the ground.

    Thanks for all the help

Which 'ring or two' are you getting?

Some of the rings spawn at the perimeter of the encounter area, and if you go through them slightly too close to the edge - you'll be 60+ yards from the Fiery Vortex in the middle (which is when you get Harsh Winds). Once you do the encounter enough you'll start to memorise/remember the ring spawn points i'm referring to.

As others have said, stay closer to the boss, our DK and Rogue never had a problem going up and coming back down, well except on the second round, but before P2 starts trying to find a healer and land near them That always helps some!

This was an issue for our group last night.
Only happened two or three times, but two of those attempts probably would have been kills.

And the person going up is a really good player, so it seems like this can happen to anyone, not just scrubs.

Like others have said, you have to watch staying on the outside of the circular area. There are some random spots that will one shot you.

I had a problem similar to this during our heroic attempts and eventually made a macro to /cancelaura the flight buff when the tornado phase was starting. It seemed even in the right spot if I was flying even a bit off the ground harsh winds would tear me apart. Try canceling your flight buff next time and you should be good to go.
