    Combat vs Rhyolith

We were doing few attempts with Rhyolith yesterday(all wipes at around 80%). And what I have noted is that there is no advantage in using blade flurry. I thought that it will hit both legs and I should be on top. However, my dps was pretty low - lower then another muti rogue was doing. What is wrong with this fight? Blade flurry is not working?

When I was doing this fight last week I noticed that Blade Flurry suffers from a double-penalty in effect. Your initial strikes get reduced by 80% - and then the reflected hit on the other leg gets reduced by 80% again, or something similar.
However - this penalty ceases to apply after the last stack of his Armour debuff is gone, so you could cleave then all you want (Provided you're not screwing up your guilds turning).

the point of the combat is not to deal damage. especially not both legs at once....
actually that is more likely ruining the tries for you (would explain all the 80% wipes)

how about clicking on the legs and read the buff/debuff?

you dont wanna be dmging both legs at the same time mate, dat's like UH dk's spreading diseases to "get more dmg"... it ruins the steering of the boss for your recount e-peeen

damaging both legs would be a rather stupid thing to do. You might wanna read a guide of this boss again...
"You're messing with my zen thing, man!"

Combat is better for ryolith than assassination, since you can control much better the damage on legs (no dots, KS and AR).

Blade flurry anyway is a big NO.
You tried, and you failed. What have you learned? That's better not to try at all.

For us rogues Assassination is the best for it on Heroic mode, the only problem is our DPS sucks in the beginning until burn phase to be honest.

Change poison, use Wound/wound, chances are you wont be on one leg for a full 30seconds to get the full affect of deadly instant and with leg swapping you dont lose much apart from bandit. having BF can be helpful when you want him to walk in a straight line rather then left left, right right wait more left.. nono more right, BF can ease that.

Why it should be the best, there is nothing in this fight that favors one spec over another. Don't know about heroic mode, if leaving dots on a leg is actually helpful.

I'd won't use wound/wound as assa, too much lost dps. I'd just sepc combat for better burst.

Sub w/ double Wound would probably be a strong spec for the fight, with it's on demand burst and good target swapping (Hemo Glyph). I worry about Assassination due to the DoTs. But you certainly shouldn't be Blade Flurrying, it negates the majority of your damage.

BF is a strong ability to use on Rhyolith, in fact.

I was talking about combat ^^ Assa gets deadly stacks alot faster then combat, while I have not got to test it myself my guild was on him last night and combat seemed to be more helpful in control when they needed to "Snap" him hard left or hard right quickly. When they wanted him to walk in a straight line combat can still dps with others have to back off

Blade flurry is quite ridiculous on Ryolilth actually

Was combat on my kill and it turned pretty good

I don't see what you would gain from it? If you're doing 10k DPS on the left foot, and 5k DPS on the right foot - Wouldn't that just negate 5k of the damage on the left foot?

It does, but depending on how good the person calling the steering shots is at decision making, the amount of actual turning you have to do is not that big, you only need to give him pushes now and then. On top of that, once you remove several layers of his armor, the dps you do on the other foot becomes even much more important, due to the mechanics of Superheated.

Blade Flurry is incredibly strong on Heroic: Lord Rhyolith where damage actually is needed. It does not ruin your turning around. It is not wasted damage. You may need to turn it off once or twice the whole fight where you need a hard turn and for the rest of the fight, you deal way more damage than you're able to as assassination on the legs.

Escort didn't even use Blade Flurry once. Just so you know.

  18. #18
I am aware, that was kind of the point.

  19. #19
What exactly is your point? I still don't seem to get it. You post a log of Lord Rhyolith where a combat rogue didn't use Blade Flurry to prove/show what?

  20. #20
I still don't get it. Doing 10k on the left leg and 5k on the right is the same as doing only 5k on the left leg. Blade Flurry doesn't help in any way that I can see.
