He's awful because the movies he "stars" in are thin on plot. There is nothing for him to act....he might as well be doing Porn tbh.

Sure there are big explosions, CGI and/or big breasted women with little clothing in all of them - which typically doesn't translate to memorable characters - just BOOOOOM....LIGHTSHOW>>>>BOOBIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    He ruined Indiana Jones 4

Just seems to be the same character he plays in each movie. Or carries the same attitude.

He's done very well in terms of moving up.

I agree. Also, I think he had a nose job. His nose doesn't look like that now.

if he isn't bad, than he should start finding better scripts... in the transformer movies he seems very casual and everytime getting the hottest chick, not convincing should act more badass then.

the problem i have with him is, in every single movie he's in, he's the same character. he's that big mouth, fast talking know it all kid, and it gets old... really... really... fast. he has to break away from that persona and make something proper before i can start liking him -,-

Indiana Jones 4 ruined Indiana Jones 4. It should've never been done, no matter what the plot would've been. Somethings are better left as they are. Indiana Jones was perfect as a trilogy, no need to try to add to perfection.

Seems to be working just fine for Ben Stiller, playing the same character over and over.

TF 3 was the best of the trilogy (With TF 1 being amusing, TF 2 being sickening, and TF 3 being a surprisingly decent action movie)... Not sure why you watched it if you liked the others, or how you watched it thinking it wasn't as good as the other... Whatever the case may be. Either way, I thought Eagle Eye was decent. He's not a bad actor. He's just in cheesy movies... HIGH GROSSING cheesy movies. Nothing wrong with that.

theres reasons T2 sucked, there was a writer "strike" (or something) and they just didnt have the man power to keep the story inline.
t3 "sucked" story wise just cause michael bay wanted 2 hours of exlotions and robots fighting. the end of the movie felt a lil rushed to end, and if they left out the autobots figuring out that sentinal betrayed em and such it probably woulda saved 45 mins and put in an "OH SHIT DIDNT SEE THAT COMIN"
as for shia, i respect him after he talked about t2 and t3, he said that 2 would be fairly crap and he wasnt happy with it, right to reporters and such.

plenty of actors that do it. stalone is always the same hardass, bruce willis has been the same character for decades, can name a bunch more... but a whiny-big-mouth-know-it-all-kid ain't one of my favorit type of characters :3

    .
Agreed... Only reason I liked the movie, really. No long, drawn out "I feel so betrayed!" nonsense. No long drawn out morals. No ending like "I will let you live to show you I'm the better man D:"

    It was just like...

"We will kill them all" D:<

"Wanna make a treaty *insert troll face*?"

    "NO BITCH *SMASH*"

"Surely you know why I did what I did!"

    *bang*

Agreed here too. guy you quoted doesn't know what he's talking about. This has been a GREAT time for movies. Lots of things that have gone outside of the box.

Fixed the thread title since OP spelled his name wrong...

I don't mind the guy. He's been in some flops, but so has everyone. The things I dislike about movies he's in don't really have to do with him.

  16. #56
He reminds me of a young Mark Wahlberg. Not a compliment. As for no good movies in the last decade... deserves its own thread. There are plenty.

Temple of Doom was just a bad, hastily put together 80's action flick! Crystal Skull was just a sad and laughable letdown of a movie, as well as all the transformers movies.
All movies had a religious tone to it, even from other religions but the first movie was toned down much more than the last crusade and they didn't shove it in your face every 2 minutes.

I've only seen Transformers and Eagle Eye, but I kinda like his acting style in both those movies. It reminds me of Owen Wilson; just that happy-go-lucky, somewhat facetious attitude of not taking anything seriously. I'd be keen to check out some of those other movies people have mentioned - not to see how he acts in them, but because they sound like interesting movies.

I haven't seen the other two Transformers movies because I just imagined them being all action and no story. Plus, I have never liked that wench Megan Fox ever since seeing the first movie (she's not in the third though, right?). Something about her makes my skin crawl and I've never understood why people drooled over someone so anorexic and shallow. No offense to fans.

Ben Stiller has built up a reputation as such a funny guy that he can be that comical dude all the time. He and Jack Black could do almost anything and people would still watch the movie, no matter how bad the script. Plus, Ben Stiller will always get his "crew" around him: Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Wil Ferrell etc. - and it just brings the comedy to life. Sometimes it falls flat in terms of quality comedy; but the movies will always get an audience because Ben Stiller is in essence a funny guy.

Shia has made a bit of a reputation for himself as being the same character over and over; but whether people actually like that or not is another story. Maybe he will mature and do what Jim Carrey did: act in more dramatic roles. Jim Carrey proved to us that he isn't all Mask and Ace Ventura, which I think is pretty gutsy. Who knows what Shia will do in the future? His primetime career only just kicked off a few years ago and by all accounts he is still young. Just look at the A-class actors and how far they've come by the time they are A-class actors.

Not that Shia is guaranteed to ever shift up to being an A-class actor, but the potential for him to grow and pick up good scripts and show off a different character is there. Many more years ahead to grow. He may never be an Edward Norton or a Christopher Walken; but he could be an Owen Wilson or a Jim Carrey.
    For the Alliance!

In all honesty a persons acting can make a movie, i mean look at "trolls 2" (yes i went there)
Try to picture Shia Labeouf in Transformers (1-3) without him screaming 'BUMBLEBEE!!!!"

Yes i know the director plays a huge role in how a movie plays out but so do the producers. I think before every movie michael bay starts to shoot, he gathers all his workers/cameramen/producers and says "Alright, alright dont worry guys ill actually make a good movie this time i promise". But Michael Bays never been good with promises i hear.

I laughed my ass off to this, just saved it.
IMO Shia plays the same character in every movie, a kid with a chip on his shoulder.
