    Decent computer for $500.00?

    Hey everyone,
I found this computer on Best Buy, it looks pretty nice for $500.00. Do you think this is worth the $500.00? All I need is for it to run WoW smoothly and with little lag. I'll maybe just pick up an after-market graphics card. Let me know what you think!

    Here's the specs:

Processor Type: AMD Athlon II X4 645
    Processor Speed: 3.1 GHz
    Processor Cores: 4
    RAM: 4GB DDR3
    Hard Drive Capacity: 1 TB
    Optical Drive: 16X DVD+/-R/RW Drive
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE

the gfx card is not that stellar. Not saying totaly useles, but not great either.

I dare to say that 500$ is just too little.

Fuzzykins build doesn't include the OS mind you. You'll have to spend ~$100 for Windows 7 as well.

The OP's system lacks a decent graphics card. I'd say $500 for that setup is a bit off. I'd go with Fuzzykins "$500" build, and then purchase the OS separately and be done with it. You'll play WoW and have no regrets with it.

NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE!?!? That card is about 7 years old!!! This is why I hate Best Buy

Also to the OP: You need it to run smoothly while doing what? There is a big difference between running smoothly while questing and 25-man Raids.

There's only 1 there (the onboard APU would be disabled with that card). And no, not for WoW.

I'm pretty sure you can crossfire them. Just looked it up, yeah, you can crossfire it with a 6670 at most.

The other mode we'll be testing is adding our Sapphire HD 6670 Ultimate into the mix and going CrossFire with the onboard GPU. AMD seems to have labeled this as a "HD 6690." I think the way it will work is if a company sells a system with a HD 6670 installed in the system, CrossFire it with the onboard APU GPU, that system will be advertised as having a "HD 6690."

What you wind up getting is a duplicate # of GPU cores. For the A8-3850, you get 400 GPU Cores. Any ATI solution you put in there (discrete), with the intent of doing Crossfire, you will only get another 400 GPU cores for use. Keep that in mind if you go this route, and you could put in a discrete solution that, when Crossfire is enabled will be slower than just the discrete solution alone.

it's limited only to the lower-end though, but that makes for some seriously cheap gaming machines.
