Something to the tune of this wouldn't be bad. (Not sure if it's a cookie based site or not but if it is just go to the sager main site and look at the NP8130).

With the vast amount of Laptops out there there's so many stores to chose from that I think a checklist is more helpful:

    1. CPU: You should be aiming for a i5-2410 at least. An i7 is mostly a wasted investment for gaming and doesn't pay off.

    2. GPU: you should be aiming for a Geforce 550M minimum. This should provide you with enough gaming performance for your screens native resolution. If you can get a 555M or even a 560M, even better.

    3. RAM: You'll want at least 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. While more won't pay off just yet, it would be wise to invest in up to 8 GB of RAM since Laptops are difficult to upgrade.

    4. Screen: If possible, you'll always want to play in your native resolution for best picture quality. However, some 17" screens boast 1080p which can be quite a struggle for many Laptop GPUs. And 1080p really doesn't pay off on such small screens anyway so it might be better to pick a lower resolution (1600x900) to ensure you'll be able to max. your details even a couple of years from now.

    5. HDDs: SSDs are a great investment, especially for laptops. They are fast, quiet and use very little power making them ideal for mobile devices. However they're also expensive and don't normally boast enough space for lots of data. But they are really worth it. If you can, try getting a small system SSD for your OS and main games and get a regular HDD for all your media files and programs. If that's not possible, consider getting an external HDD, ideally USB 3.0 compatible.

Whatever you chose, make sure your HDD has 7200 RPM.

    Notes:

Alienwares are good Gaming Laptops but you pay about 10-15% extra for the name.

Look through the ones that are under your price range, understanding that there will be shipping. If it's a fair chunk below, you can upgrade some things on it.
    EVGA Classified SR-2 | Intel Xeon X5680 x 2 | Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 6 x 2GB | XFX HD5970 x 2
Intel PRO/1000 PT Server NIC | ASUS Xonar DX | Corsair AX1200 | Corsair TX750
    OCZ Vertex2 60GB | WD Velociraptor 300GB x 2 | Samsung Spinpoint MP4 500GB
    EK-FB SR2 - Acetal+Nickel | EK-Supreme HF - Acetal x 2 | EK-FC5970 Acetal x 2
    Thermochill TA120.4 x 3 | Thermochill TA120.3 | Swiftech MCP655 x 2

Why specifically do you need a laptop - Most standard laptops will run Wow on average settings.

Not only do laptops add a huge cost \, but also limit your upgrade-ability.
