Legends are Never Forgotten: Brunden Valorwind
By: An Old Friend

Brunden Valorwind was a Knight of Lordaeron. Raised by his parents, Thomas and Madeline Valorwind. Brunden came from a unique family. While his father served in the First and Second wars, his mother was close friends with Lianne Menethil. Brunden had a great life, until the Plague of Undeath met it's way into Capital City, Lordaeron.

Together, him and his brother, Garrien retreated to the town that was once known as the Grand Hamlet, now known as Darkshire. Together him and his brother created The Blackwood Crusade to fight off the undead in Duskwood (The reason behind the name was that Duskwood's forests & trees are black and Duskwood is haunted by the Dark Riders of Kharazan). Meanwhile, an old colleague of Brunden, Morbent Fel, Dark Lord of Duskwood awaited them. Morbent & Brunden were both apprentices of Uther the Lightbringer, but due to Morbent's impatience, Uther favored Brunden more. Morbent went into a rage, vowing revenge.

Morbent later killed Brunden's brother, Garrien in the middle of the night, when they stayed in Darkshire. Brunden gathered enough courage and faith to slay the fool and found a blade known as Archeus, which he used to later kill Morbent Fel. During the encounter, a Image of the Lich King appeared told Brunden that he had hired Morbent Fel to do his bidding: Kill the Source of Brunden’s Inspiration for Courage. Brunden vowed revenge on the Scourge and Arthas Menethil, the Lich King. Brunden later traveled to Northrend, and faced many scourge. Meanwhile, Brunden found a new inspiration for his courage, the Holy Light itself.

Soon, he retired after the Fall of the Lich King; The Fall of Prince Arthas Menethil; The End of the Scourge and the Crowning of Bolvar Fordragon, and moved to an isolated area in the forests of Lordaeron known as: Corrin's Crossing. Soon he became a victim to the plague and became an undead monstrosity. He built a house there, and lived for many years. He did one last service for Lordaeron: Cleanse Stratholme of the Scourge-Lord Baron Rivendare and the Dreadlord Balnazzar. Together, with Lord Tirion Fordring, they cleansed the once peaceful city.

Years passed, and Brunden began to fall into a terrible nightmare, the shadows of the past were returning to him, like the time him and Tirion Fordring cleansed Stratholme, or the time he slaughtered Morbent Fel in revenge for his brother's death. But, the Nightmare of Valorwind was about to end... Permanently.

One day he was sitting in his home, and a vision of Uther the Lightbringer's ghost appeared to him. He and Garrien told Brunden about how Brunden has been reliving Shadows of the Past for years, that he has been swinging his blade at nothing. Brunden realized this, and decided that he has done his good deeds for the world and wanted to rest in peace without being undead.

He stabbed himself in the heart with Acherus. Soon, he was coughing out blood, as it began to froth up in his beard. He said one last sentence: "Esarus thar no'Darador'." Then, with a thud, Brunden fell the ground and was dead, gone to the world, free from the nightmare at last. He was then given a quiet, yet peaceful funeral and was buried in a tomb next to his home, while his blade, Archeus was placed in the halls of the Cathedral of Light to commend and be remembered for his service to not only the Alliance of Lordaeron, but to the world of Azeroth itself. Now, Azeroth has lost a true hero, a legend.

Heros are praised and thanked, but Legends are never forgotten.

Rest in Peace: Brunden Valorwind
"By Blood and Honor, we serve."
